5.0 out of 5 stars Easy recipes -- where are the harmful ingredients? April 5, 2010
Format:Hardcover
I was alarmed to see the negative reviews for this book after I'd picked it up at a local store. I was planning on getting another copy for myself as the first copy was intended to be a gift.
I read the reviews about the toxic ingredients and thought I'd never be able to gift the book as originally intended. It wasn't until later that I actually read the recipes and I can't find a single mention of any of the ingredients the other reviewers list. No raisins. No onions. No garlic. The recipes are all very simple and have really normal ingredients like chicken, rice, flour, etc. Nothing even remotely controversial.
Perhaps the book has been completely re-written, but these recipes contain nothing bad for dogs in them. They actually look like they'd appeal to people too with a little seasoning added in to them. I think this is a great book and will gladly be able to gift it as intended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Check the Publication Date March 3, 2012
Format:Hardcover
After reading the negative reviews I went through the recipes looking for toxic ingredients -- I found none. My copy has a publication date of 2010 and states it has been reviewed By Dr. Burton Miller of Huntington, NY. I suspect if you look for that information on the page just before the contents there will not be any health issues with the recipes in your copy of the book. My only complaint with the book is that if I use it on a regular schedule my dog will be eating better than I do.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Worst Book!! Full of Contradictions!! August 6, 2012
Format:Hardcover
The page right before the table of contents warns against ingredients that are harmful to pets, including RAISINS AND ONIONS. Almost every one of the recipes calls for adding onions, leek, scallions, red onions. Also, one of the recipes has raisins(pg.51) for one of the ingredients. This is insane! I prefer to cook gluten free for my dog, and nearly every recipe has wheat flour, oats. Other ingredients I don't agree with which are used in the book are: diet margarine...which we all know is not good for humans either, sausage meat, corn syrup(pg.30), I threw the book away. I don't anyone harming their pet!!
