This Cool Attic 24-inch direct drive 2-speed whole house fan with shutters will help cool down your home in those hot months. It has a precision-balanced aluminum fan blade assembly with 4 blades, unlike 3 in most competing brands for greater air movement. It has a joist-in/joist out installation and steel venturi for enhanced durability. The shutter is a white powder-coated finish automatic shutter with 95% plus air closure. A wall switch is included with high/low/off settings. It is UL and C-UL listed and comes with a 10 year warranty. This model is designed for up to 1,800 square feet on one story and has a CFM high/low of 4,600/3,200. This unit needs 8 to 10 square feet of net free exhaust area.

This fan moves plenty of air. I don't know why you would want a bigger one. We have a 2400 sq ft house and it makes a nice breeze through the house. It isn't quiet, so I am glad I mounted it in the back room. I don't think any fan with this amount of power is going to be quiet though. Overall I am very satisfied with it.

The install is quite involved requiring a box frame to be built in the attic and of course wiring to the 2 speed switch. I suggest using 2x8 lumber for the frame which will raise the fan up a few inches and reduce the noise. I mounted it on foam pipe insulation and used metal straps to hold it down to further isolate the vibrations.

Fan works well. It's a little on the loud side, but not too bad. We installed it ourselves and didn't have too much trouble.

After reading some of the other reviews about the noise generated by this unit we took pains to mount this on thick foam weatherstrip. It was also positioned on top of the framing rather than between the ceiling joists so as to gain a few more inches of distance. As a result, there is no appreciable vibration transmitted to the house structure. The noise of the air movement is still appreciable, especially on HIGH.

This fan really moves the hot air out of the room quickly!
