Grade 5-8-This guide will inspire girls who are interested in pursuing careers in the field. The focus is on 11 professionals from various backgrounds who fill such posts as computer, biomedical, civil, and agricultural engineer. Each chapter introduces a successful woman who has developed her skills, interests, and expertise from youth through adulthood to achieve her current position. The profiles include salary ranges, job descriptions, and a career checklist that describes the personal qualities recommended for a given career path. There are a few tips on college preparation and a list of professional organizations to contact for more information. Blythe Camenson's Real People Working in Engineering (VGM, 1997) includes both men and women working in the field and provides a more in-depth overview. The books would complement one another.

Cool Careers for Girls in Engineering is an early career guide for teens advocates engineering jobs for girls, including lists of skills needed, salaries for different jobs, physical and mental demands, and the amount of leisure time provided by jobs. Girls receive an early, basic education on how they can consider engineering positions and fit them into lifestyle and family concerns.

I really like how the book gave information. I also know someone featured in the book and I think it is really kewl that they wrote a hole book about how womens role in the work forces
