Shipping on this item was much faster than expected. This item is made of good quality material which I feel will stand up to the elements over time. The mounting system consists of a steel hanger that flush mounts to the mounting surface with included screws. The bottom is secured with plastic keepers on each side that snap onto the bottom of the shade. So far, it has held up to some pretty strong wind gusts without letting go. The only disappointment I had was in the color itself. Mine is "smoke". I equated this to a gray color when looking at the color swatch. It does in fact lean a little toward the brown side. Overall, I would recommend this to others and I'm planning on buying a second one for the opposite side on my porch.

I bought two 8-footers here at Amazon but had to resort to a special order at the local Ace Hardware to get a 10-footer for our biggest sunny area. They all work well enough, though I have to say that the old, cheapie plastic fake-bamboo kind were more reliable in our windy mountain climate. In these Coolaroos, the heavy metal pole at the bottom tends to slide around a bit and bang in the wind, so I have to go out and roll them up when the wind comes up. But these do look a little nicer, and I think they'll last a lot longer. They come in a nice heavy plastic holder that I am storing them in for the winter to keep the mice out of them in the garage. Storage was always a problem with the others. The smoke color that I received looks sort of tannish/pinkish/brownish. Very bland, goes with anything. I like that the solid parts are metal, not plastic, and the fabric feels strong. The ropes are well-made and don't tend to tangle too much.

I placed these blinds on 3 windows and am very glad I did. Living in the mountains, we don't need airconditioning, but the house can get too warm when the sun beats in. These blinds have definately helped keep the house cooler. They were easy to install, look good, and are easy to raise and lower. I didn't intially install the lower clip, but am doing so as the blinds tend to "flap" against the house with a breeze. We are very pleased with our purchase.

This is a fine product. The reduction in heat coming through surprises me.
Sitting on the covered back deck with a Southwestern exposure is tough,
when the sun is low in the sky, without some protection.
The Coolaroo allows some breeze to come through and makes an afternoon
commune with nature a pleasure.

A product that truly lives up to its design. A Little unclear on the mounting instructions (orientation of header) but it works really well. It has made our west facing covered deck usable on bright late afternoons. It drops the temperature a few degrees also. With the bottom holders, it will with stand all but probably the most severe thunderstorms. I bought two 8 ft

I bought these to drape across the open sides of our patio to block the sun, but the material is like gauze; you can see out of them like a window, and the sun shines through them just as brightly. I will have to buy an additional, thicker material to glue onto them to block the sun better. In the picture, they look much more solid than they are.

We were happy to receive this product earlier than expected and they were very easy to install. We ordered two of them to help keep down the cost of cooling our Florida room which receives the afternoon and late day hot sun during the summer and we definately feel the difference. The only negative note we have is one of the shades did come damaged - the metal part on top that houses the shade when rolled up was dented in. But since we were so impatient in wanting to get the shades up and didn't want to deal with waiting weeks on an exchange, we chose not to return them.

These Coolaroo shades from Amazon are used outside our sunroom windows and work just fine. Certainly the price is right. I only wish it came in more varied lengths e.g. 5'

The two 8ft, bottom rollup, smoke colored coolaroo shades came very quickly and in great shape. My husband and son-in-law put them up with ease. My husband grills all the time and had to have something to make the deck usable when we moved to this home. These shades do a great job of blocking that evening sun and the heat that comes with it. We have only had them up for a month, so long term--we hope they hold up. One warning though---I would not leave them down on a windy Nebraska day. They really would take a beating, even though secured at the bottom. The other thing is "Smoke" is not an accurate description of the color...more like "sand", but we knew that from reviews we had read before purchasing and that is the color we wanted anyway. Love them.
