5.0 out of 5 stars This is as good as it gets...
I've been looking for something to cover my french door from the blast of afternoon sun in my master bedroom for a while...I checked Home Depot and Lowes and could only find this same product in the 6'x 6'size...I found the same product and brand in the size I needed for practically half the price of the 6'x 6' and free shipping here on Amazon...I received it 3 days...

The fabric is quite acceptable. It does exactly as is represented. However, the design needs much improvement. With the least amount of wind, i.e., breeze, the shade will not properly roll up. Also, the straps holding the pole in place (at the bottom of the shade) easily slip off. The shade and the pole are then free to do as they please; in my case, the pole fell to the ground, and the shade flapped in the breeeze. The pole however, is quite capable of smashing into anything within reach. A fine product for a zero wind area.

It's aesthetically pleasing, easy to install, and it really does what it promises!...It's not a miracle solution as the room still gets somewhat hot but it is definitely a lot cooler. I definitely recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cools our deck!, November 22, 2009
By
Mty Girl (montgomery USA) - See all my reviews
Playing dominos on the deck got hot during the summer. I saw this at Home Depot and bought an 8'. Was not difficult to screw to the 4x4 at the top of the deck. To roll up and down, pull the hard plastic line that is attached to the pulley. This shade cools the deck 30 degrees. We love it! It blocks out the sun too! There are 2 steel rings at the bottom of the shade. We inserted 2 tiny bungie cords up through 2 of our deck boards. We use these to clip the shade in place so it won't blow in and out.

Product is great but will never ever buy this product again on Amazon. It is my fault mostly for not paying attention to the freight charge but was charged $87.00 for freight so this product cost me approx $140.00 which really is uncalled for because I could have went some where locally and purchased. Just make sure you look at the freight charges and if unsure I would not purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very junky, July 23, 2010

This review is from: Coolaroo Classic Series All Purpose Bottom Roll Up Window Shade 4' x 6', Pebble (Lawn & Patio)
We have a Coolaroo shade on our picture window. It is high quality fabric, fastens down well, and we can see outside but light is still well blocked. When I ordered a couple of Coolaroo shades, thinking I would receive the same quality product, I was appalled when I actually received and opened the packages. I think it would probably work better to go to a local Home Depot or Walmart and purchase some of their shade cloth and tack it over the window. These shades have the same type of fabric as the bulk rolls of shade cloth sold everywhere. It's floppy and does not lie down properly unless it is tightly stretched and fastened down. It will not be possible to view the outside well through these shades. The shades also are cheaply made in every other way. I doubt the plastic parts will hold up well in hot climates. The plastic bar at the bottom of the shade wants to slide right out and the fasteners for that bar are plastic and poorly designed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for privacy!, June 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got two of these shades for my porch to block our view of our trashy neighbors next door. They work wonderfully for that purpose, while still letting air circulate on the porch. The "Summer Haze" pattern looks really nice and passably period on our house, which is an 1850's Victorian. In case you can't tell from the photo (I couldn't), the "Summer Haze" pattern is a white background with forest green stripes. The green stripes are flanked by one narrow light brown stripe on either side. Despite the green, the pattern ends up looking pretty neutral on my bright blue house and does not clash at all.

The only issue I have with them is that the bottom brackets don't work so well. These brackets are designed to be mounted at the bottom of wherever you'd like your shade to hang, one on either side, so that the shade will stay down instead of flapping in the breeze and possibly rolling itself further down that you want it to go. These brackets, unlike the rest of the hardware, are plastic, and he shade pops right off them as soon as the wind blows. I can get along without using them, since I either have the shades all the way up or all the way down, but it's something to consider if you don't want to do the same. Other than that, I love these shades. I do wonder how and if they will hold up in cold weather (I live in PA.) I imagine I will probably have to take them down for the winter, but if I find out any information about how they hold up in freezing temps then I'll be sure to update this review.

EDIT: I contacted Coolaroo and asked how these would fare in snowy, freezing conditions. The company rep responded that I should "definitely take them down in the winter, as the Coolaroo shade warranty does not cover storm or wind damage." I guess I'll have to figure something else out to block my bad view during the cold months...sigh.

The Coolaroo shade blocks the afternoon sun and heat while letting in diffused light. We love the style and light weight fabric. It is also easy to maintain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool-Roo Roll-Up Porch Blind, November 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered this blind to add privacy to our country style porch and to block the hot, West sun in Summer. I chose a Cool-Roo blind after much research because I live in the Midwest where the fabric must be able to endure all types of weather. In the Summer I wanted the sun diffused yet needed the breeze to be able to pass through. Cool-Roo's fabric design met all of my requirements. The price and style exactly what I wanted. The blind arrived promptly and was extremely easy to install. After one summer of use, thus far, I am quite pleased with this product. Would do business with Amazon again.

This item did exactly what I needed. It shaded the sun, but allowed light and air in. It also shaded my patio working a privacy screen.I am pleased at the way it looks, and the high quality of the product.
