5.0 out of 5 stars Kinda pricey but much better than an umbrella!
It's just a fabric with some holes on the corners to tie it up...but it's much better than your typical patio umbrella.
Just remember that the shadow it casts isn't that big so if you need lots of constant shadow, go bigger!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very thin, looks like a blue tarp
I expected heavier fabric, but the real problem was the color. The picture showed a darker blue, but in person it was the same color as a plastic blue tarp. Ghetto.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressive shade cloth, July 18, 2009

The Coolaroo shade cloths are really well made and worth their price, but do look around since they sell for a wide range of prices. (And keep shipping in mind as well.) These make excellent backyard and camping shades. Small enough to take with you but large enough to make a nice little shaded reading area on the back porch.

4.0 out of 5 stars fine for very small areas, June 4, 2010

Good quality material, seems lighter that the bigger sized ones. It has a grommeted hole at each corner, not D rings and it comes with three lenghts of Nylon rope to attach it .This sail does not come with ANY hardware. Fluro green, very bright. Fine for temporary use in very small areas. I wish I had gone bigger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cools things down., June 17, 2010

We bought this to add shade to an atrium after a harsh winter partially killed the shade tree. The pond was evaporating and algae was taking over, and the sun beating on the windows was heating the house. It may be years before the tree recovers enough to provide the needed shade again because we had to cut off all the dead limbs. We needed to find a quick way to replace the lost shade until the tree can recover. I was worried it would look carnival-ish, and detract from the beauty of the atrium. It looks very nice, and adds needed shade without taking away the feel of being in an open outdoor space.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRIGHT orange, September 17, 2009

This party sail is as advertised. It is very sturdy and I imagine it will last for many years. I just wanted to mention that this sail is bright orange, similar to "safety orange", the color that traffic cones are. I was *kinda* hoping it wouldn't be so bright because I'm using it as permanent shade in my backyard. I have to say that being under it is very nice because of the soft orange glow. And the fact it's guaranteed for 3 years against fading means it won't be dulling down for a long time. As a previous reviewer said, check prices because they vary quite a bit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, May 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like this item a lot. I personally think the fabric is substantial and nice.. Not as plasticy as a tarp. I have never bought the nicer version of these so I have nothing to compare it to but this will do. I will probably buy a second one tom overlap with the other a little. There are holes with grommets in the corners and it's an even sides triangle.. Which does make it a little odd. Price wise it's worth a try

5.0 out of 5 stars Coolaroo keeps our sunroom cooler, August 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coolaroo Party Sail 9 Feet 10 Inch Triangle - Blue (Lawn & Patio)
Bought this to replace shade we lost when an ice storm snapped our shade birch. Does an admirable job of keeping out most of the glaring sun, and reducing sunroom temps. We just experienced a very HOT and sunny July here in Massaachusetts, but the Coolaroo shade helped quite a bit. The sunroom is all windows, but the glare was reduced greatly. Installed easily, and the price was very reasonable. Seems to be well made of heavy duty material, and I would expect that this should last at least 3-5 summers of intense sun. No signs of wear or any degradation after a month. Great price; well worth the money. Breathes some, so it doesn't flap in the wind. Can't imagine anything cheaper that would work nearly as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my atrium, July 28, 2011

We live in South Texas where the sun and heat is brutal in the summer. The plants in my atrium were getting hammered even though they were only getting direct sunlight for a couple of hours a day. We decided a short term fix (just to get past the summer's worst) would be this sail. What a difference!!!! Went up easy.....blocked enough sun to keep the plants from frying but still lets enough light in to preserve the beauty of an inside atrium. In fact, the yellow sail we selected casts a wonderful glow throughout the living room all day long. We have no plans to remove it during the winter months....it looks that great and the resulting "glow" is such an unexpected bonus!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price - bought as an experiment, June 2, 2011
This review is from: Coolaroo Party Sail 9 Feet 10 Inch Triangle - Blue (Lawn & Patio)
After several failed attempts at solving my shade problem, I decided to try this. I wasn't sure if the sun sail idea would work, but decided to buy this as an experiment because this one was so inexpensive. Works great for the price. Have been using for a few years. Now that i know it works, I am going to buy a bigger one to get more shade. I put eye hooks in the house and on posts. Fed ropes (attached to the sail with spring clips) through the eye hooks and down to tie-down kleets. With this set-up, I can hoist it up or down and simply clip or inclip the sail.

4.0 out of 5 stars wonderful way to increase the space..., September 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We bought this item because we were constantly adjusting our umbrella which was placed next to a small patio with an overhang. The coolaroo attached to the side of the overhang perfectly and we then attached the third point to a fence post. We bought another coolaroo and did the same thing on the other side.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the color We bought the yellow...the other selections were not acceptable.
It is very pretty but slightly too bright ( a warmer version of yellow would have been nicer but this is more of a lemon yellow, cooler and somewhat harsher) and I repeated the yellow by buying some items for the patio in the same version of the color but I would have preferred a warm sand color or a terra cotta. We love the fact that it does not collect water and it is very pleasant to sit under it. It gives us more space because we are not dealing with a pole in the middle of the area. I hope they will make it in more neutral colors eventually because this is a really great idea much less expensive and prettier than an off-set umbrella.
