For weeks I researched online and in seasonal stores to find the right shade for our screened-in porch. All the shades I found were in the $350+ range. So when I saw this shade listed on amazon for a little over $100 was nervous about the quality. But it is WONDERFUL! We love it! The quality is high-end and perfect, the mocha color looks great and it rolls up and down with ease. I was concerned about it blowing in the wind, but it comes with one clip that snaps onto the bottom of the shade (when extended) and it literally holds the entire 10ft-shade in place even with big gusts of wind. It also has two ring hooks that can be used to secure the shade from blowing in the wind -- but I haven't had to use those because the clip works perfectly.

The shade mutes the view when looking out our screen-in porch and doesn't completely block it. What I really like about the shade is that when standing in our neighbor's yard the view INTO our porch is blocked. So you can take a nice afternoon nap on your porch without the whole neighborhood watching! :-) Our porch gets direct afternoon sun which can get uncomfortably hot. I have been surprised and very pleased with how well the shade cools down the porch in the afternoon.

If I had to come up with a complaint about this shade it would only be that I wish it came in longer lengths. But the shade is such a great quality that the length is no longer an issue for us.

My porch is large and screened in, but after 3 pm in the afternoon is completely unusable. I would make the kids come in and we would close up the house in anticipation of the hot Florida afternoon sun. BBQing and afternoon parties were impossible due to the heat. I never wanted to be out there just because of the heat. But, I am proud to say that I am typing my review on the back porch right in front of the children playing in the pool. The sunshade lowers the temperature atleast 10 degrees and blocks out a lot of the UV rays that make it so hot. I have the screen down but I can see through them to watch the children play in the yard. I bought two 10 foot shades and it is still not quite long enough for the back end of the porch, but it covers it enough to make it functional.
The only complaint I have is that they are not quite long enough to cover the porch from ceiling to floor, but we have moved past that. I am extremely happy with being able to be out here with my kids and actually look forward to spend time out here this summer. The roll shade works quite nice and the hooks are nice because they slide along the long plastic weighted bar that is at the bottom of the shade. The winds picks them up and we have not devised a system to secure them down. That is still in the workings.
All in all, the room is very functional and we feel that we have "extra" living space in our home. Very nice addition. Worth the money. I got mine at Home Depot, but thought I would write a review on here since most people would look on here to get their reviews from here.
Buy this shade and enjoy your outdoor living space again. We have reclaimed ours and couldn't be happier.

Check your warranties on EACH Coolaroo product. I purchased a Top Roll Up screen for an exterior window. The control line (raising and lowering) broke after the procuct was installed for about nine months and had about two months of actual use. I contacted Coolaroo and was told there was no warranty on my product. They stated that I could by some generic line at a hardware store and they would supply instructions on repairing. They seemed totally oblivious to the fact that the shade broke so soon. I would not by another Coolaroo product. We are in the process of adding shades to several large windows on one side of our home, along with one side of our deck. Coolaroo will not be a prodcut we use.

Shade blocks the heat and sun. Very easy to install. The continuous loop clutch is much better than a draw sting system very smooth operation.

I bought this for a big window in my family room that gets direct sunlight until about 1:30pm. It works great at shading my room--I can also see through it so it does not feel like I am in a cave. It keeps the room cooler too.

This shade lives up to its promises. Blocks the hot afternoon sun, leaving our deck significantly cooler. Provides privacy, yet allows air to flow through. We also love the look of the shade - has a wood/bamboo appearance but is completely weather-proof. Great purchase.

I am very impressed with the Coolaroo Select Roll Up Sun Shade. I needed a large roll up shade to fit our patio and shade it from the sun on one side and this one fit the bill. It is 10ft X 6ft and fits perfectly. Found out we could hang it from the top, which is what we needed since we have brick on the sides of our patio. There is a trick to it, but if you are careful when you take the ends apart, then no problem! I highly recommend this product. My son is ordering one as well.

I ended up purchasing this shade by ordering it online via one of the large home improvement stores and had it delivered to the store which is free. You can save about half the cost of the shade as listed in Amazon if you do this.
I can't figure out why delivery is so much on this shade because it weighs around 9 lbs. total but then I figured that it is so long that this must create an issue with the delivery providers. So that being said, I was able to install the mounting brackets myself. I am using the shade in my front porch. I used a string to measure out the distance while I had shade on the floor, then I drilled the holes per the string length. This was helpful to doing this part of the installation by myself. Once the brackets were mounted, I had my daughter climb on a small stepladder while I was on the other end so that we could engaged each end into the brackets easily. I think it would be difficult for one person to perform the complete installation of a ten foot shade just becuase of the last step of putting each end into the mounted bracket.
I found no issues and no mystery at all in this installation. Look at the picture on the box and you'll see that the correctly installed shade should roll over (rather than under) its attached rod once engaged into the brackets.
The shade looks very classy and I was able to enjoy a bit cooler temperatures as I sat on my front porch. Additionally, we will enjoy the bit of privacy if we do sit on the front porch drinking a nice glass of white chilled wine.
I highly recommend this shade!

While the shade is very effective and looks good in place, the fact remains that the chain by which you operate the rollup/down function is too short. It is necessary for me to climb on a stool to operate it. It seems that they did not take into account that the shade might be mounted on a window any higher than 8 feet and made the chain only as long as the shade, without any apparent option for lengthening it.

Calling the company to attempt to purchase a longer chain or an extension has not resulted in any help.

Purchased two of the 10 x 6 for our porch in the back of the house which gets the evening sun. They are wonderful. Easy to put up, look great. They screen without obstructing the view. I especially like that you cannot see through them if you're on the outside. Kinda like a little privacy screen. They went up so easy and the rings on the bottom are great for holding them steady when the wind blows. They've certainly increased our enjoyment of our outdoor space. We got a terrific deal on Amazon a couple of months ago and the shipping was extremely reasonable. Ours came packed in a cardboard container with absolutely no damage. I would buy them again without hesitation. Very well made, attractive and not nearly as costly as some I had priced. Everyone who visits comments on how expensive they look.
