Sleek design. Less quality than the Cosmos 1000 or 1010.,

This review is from: Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case Black- (RC-1100-KKN1-GP) (Personal Computers)
Pros:
Sleek design. Great for overclockers and water coolers. 3x120mm radiator area on the top under the grid makes it GREAT for cooling. Previously owned Cosmos 1000. Comparison: Slightly lower quality side panels and all around quality. (that's slightly). Front audio headphone port no longer makes faint clicking noise when listening to sound through headphones and hard drive is accessing. Comes with 1x120mm top fan (out of 3) instead of 2x120mm from the Cosmos 1000. Doesn't come with bottom 120mm fan that Cosmos 1000 came with. Comes with front 120mm hard drive cooling fan and intake (Cosmos 1000 lacked) Lots more ventilation and airflow intake and outtake capability (compared to Cosmos 1000 which used negative inside pressure to cool components... a bad idea for gamers with graphics cards that needed air to push out the back). Lighter than the Cosmos 1000 by far. Cons: The side panel is more flimsy. 200mm side fan is great, but make sure nothing touches it. The fan will easily break if something pokes it while it's in motion. Mine did (which Cooler Master gracefully replaced). Not as much noise reduction as the Cosmos 1000 but still it's a gamer's case. Paint comes off easily on the top handle bars and feet (semi-knife scratches will do the job) Other Thoughts: Tested with: video card: eVGA 8800GTS G92 512mb Overclocked to 800/2000/1000 Idle 45c Load 52c Processor: Q6600 @ 2.92ghz on Zalman 9700 @ 38c idle 55c load RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS2 RAM HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500gb Mobo: Asus Striker Extreme

This is one VERY attractive case. Soft red back lighted touch controls complemented by a similar glow from behind the front mesh panel is both striking and subtle. Aluminum construction makes case is significantly lighter that the standard Cosmos. I don't find the side panels at all 'flimsy' given that they are lightweight aluminum sheet.
The case has plenty of space and great cable routing options - many cable ties are included. I'm running it with 2 Sapphire HD4870 1GB cards with no clearance problems. (These are huge cards with heat pipe cooling.) The only issue may be finding an appropriate CPU cooler. A Cooler Master N520 just fits - side panel clearance maxes out at about 140mm with the side fan installed. One other nice touch - the case includes motherboard to power supply extension cables to accommodate a bottom-mounted power supply. The Zalman ZM850-HP 850W power supply didn't need them but they'll be a lifesaver if one of your power cables is just a little bit too short! (BTW, not only does a bottom-mount power supply stay cooler but it really improves the balance of this tall case.) Excellent job, Cooler Master!

Still love it.,
This review is from: Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case Black- (RC-1100-KKN1-GP) (Personal Computers)
I have owned this case for about a year and a half now and thought it about time I gave it a review as I have been really happy with it.
There are a couple things that have bothered me over time, but nothing has stopped me from loving the case and none of them are worth taking away any stars. *****Things I have loved***** After all this time of owning it, I still find the case to be one of the most stylish things I own. People still comment on it to this day when they see it. Initially I was worried about the "Touch sensitive" power button becoming a problem down the road, but this feature has worked flawlessly for me and it is still one of my favorite features on the case. I wish everything I owned was touch after having this and various other devices lately that are touch capable. It is an extremely roomy case and I have never had a problem working around inside it at all. (Putting a list of what I have inside it at the bottom of the review.) The cable management on the case is really nice. When looking inside the case to the right of the motherboard there is a machined strip of holes that run vertical up the entire inside of the case. For every cable you have in the case that is longer than needed you can route that portion of the cable through these holes and lay them against the other side of the case. This is easy to do as both sides of the case have a removable panel. The case also came with these little wire management zip ties that have a sticky backing and you can position them as needed on the back panel where you need them for the wires to keep them in place. This system has made for a great looking interior and helped with the air flow a great deal. (Going to put a picture up on the customer images of the inside of the case with all equipment in.) Installing CD/DVD drives and the like, couldn't be any easier. 1: Push the tabs to the right and left on the front panel 2: Pull out one of the drive covers 3: Slide the drive in 4: Push the blue button on the side of the case and it locks it in nice and tight. The rails that run on the bottom of the case keep it off the ground. This allows you to put a PSU inside that has a fan on the top of it. You can install the PSU so the fan draws air from under the case and blows it out the back. No PSU heat inside the case is AWESOME. *****Things that have bothered me***** Dust management could have been better. Don't get me wrong, it keeps the dust out of your system very well, this actually makes it harder to clean sometimes. You can easily use compressed air to clean it out as a normal case and be fine. However, I have found that over time you need to do a little more than that. For the side panel you need to remove the fan and the panel the fan sets in to truly get the dust out of there. This is because the mesh used to keep dust out of the computer is very fine. While this does keep A LOT of dust out of the system, which is a good thing, it does make it harder to clean. I have only had to do this once since owning it and it took me about 10 minutes, so its not really all that bad. The drive covers have this same mesh. The problem here is that you can't take the mesh out of the drive covers so it takes a bit more time with compressed air to get all the dust out because most of it is between the mesh and the outer metal. Again, this takes me all of ten minutes as well, plus only the drive covers at the bottom really accumulate anything as they are in front of the fan that cools the hard drive. I couldn't see knocking a star off for this as the system is effective at keeping a lot of dust off your components. The hard drive bay isn't as easy to use as the other drive bays. This is because the hard drives are screwed into an enclosure which is slid into the compartment and then screwed down itself. The only reason this bothered me is it can be hard to line up the holes for the outer screws when installing it. So why am I not knocking off a star for this? Because the system is very effective at keeping your drives secure. There is absolutely no vibration around my drives. After you install a hard drive into the enclosure you put these two panels on the side of it that are cushioned with this dense foamy material and when you slide this into the case it works to really stop all vibration. I hope they continue with this system and just add improvements to make it screw-less, but really its not even as hard as I make it out. Its heavy. Its not so heavy by itself, but when you have all your stuff in it, it is pretty darn heavy. But thats what you get when you purchase a full tower meant to carry a lot of stuff inside. There is even a ton of room for water cooling. Which I haven't done myself so I can't comment on that. The cloth bag supplied to put the case in when taking it with you somewhere can leave swirl marks on the glossy finish on the top front of the case. I only ever took the case out of the house one time and the cloth bag left swirl marks up there. If I had to do it again I would lay a plastic baggy over this part before tying the bag at the top to protect the gloss. In the end, you can only see them in the proper light and the right angle so this doesn't matter to me either. *****What I have inside***** EVGA 750i SLI FTW Motherboard E8400 Intel Core 2 Duo (3Ghz) EVGA 9800 GTX 4 Gigs Mushkin Ram (Two 2 gig sticks) Two 500GB Seagate HD 7200rpm with 32mb cache Silverstone 850W PSU with single 70amp 12v rail *****In conclusion***** With the minor things I have mentioned that bothered me, none of them have made me dissatisfied with the product. It has performed well and is very nice to look at. If you have the cash and need something stylish and roomy it is a great case to own.

this is a huge case, packing was nice, air flow runs great, specially if you buy 3 more 120mm fans, a lot of space to fit anything.
the only complain is the huge 200mm fan in the side of the case, it doesn't move so much air that we can say, but it's cool anyway. I bought a zalman 9700 and it fit without problem , i've heard a lot of people saying that their coolers didn't fit due to the huge fan, but they didn't review the size of the case and make sure if the cooler they wanna buy could fit in it I like it a LOT, you can see inside it in the night, that's cool, the touch pad panel is great, one touch and the computer turns on, touch it a little and you will have a reset button.

I definitely recommend this product. As a hobbyist, I've built a few computers in the past using different cases. This definitely beats them all. A lot of space inside to work with, great cooling capabilities, etc. This case has it all. Plus it has the best styling out there.

This is a good looking case. Was easy to build my new computer. There is a lot of space in this thing but then it is a full size tower.
There is enough fans in this case to keep the air moving well. There is ample room behind the mother board tray to put wires but not for the power cables. I have round power cables and i had to leave them in the main compartment and not behind it. The only issue i have is that the opening for the cards at the back is that it has a nice rolled lip around it but it projects into the space about 1/8 too much so is it currently blocks one of my jacks, the top one for the sound card that came with my msi big bang x power mother board. I might get around to taking a picture of it in a few days. Other than that, i like the case. Noise is ok even with all the fans as expected since it it so well vented an open.

Premium Cooler Master Cosmos S design succeeds well.,

The Cosmos S RC-1100 is the updated full size ATX compliant replacement case for the older Cosmos RC-1000. It is essentially aluminum alloy construction. The S is lighter, has a far, far better air current path design for heat removal, has a sliding cover for the interconnects to keep everything dust and liquid free, and a novel touch sensitive on-off button. Up to three large 120mm fans (comes w/ one) can install on the top with a a very large 200mm fan on the side cover. 120mm fans are on the rear and front. Other fan locations are available. No tool disassembly, large and spacious, sleek contemporary styling are the highlight of this very high quality Cooler Master chassis case. Rated A+. I love mine and recommend it. This case is awesome and I mean awesome it has real style I have never liked cases with too much flash but this case looks great all my friends like allot want to know where I got it!! Just finished my i7 sli gaming rig case has excellent cooling and placement for fan or water cooling solutions just added two blue cathod lights and POP not to over the top but just rite. Again this is a very cool looking and most importantly performing case I think anyone who looking for a cool tower for gaming or just high performance this is it and by the way was able to run all my cable mess neatly behind the back panel of the case looks amazing 5 star product!!!!!

Upgrade to Cosmos S,

This review is from: Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case Black- (RC-1100-KKN1-GP) (Personal Computers)
Hey... I upgraded from a Thermaltake Xaser III case. My system components were:
ASUS M4N82 Deluxe MoBo AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 4 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz G.Skil RAM in dual channel 3 x 250GB SATA HDD 2 x eVGA 9800GTX+ 512MB Graphics Cards in SLI Mode With all the heat produces form my system I was getting loads temps (this is with OCZ RAM Cooler, which I tihnk may have caused a temp rise on chip, but was needed for stability) of around 75 degrees celsius!!! After upgrading to the Cosmos S case (with the included fans only) my load temps dropped to 61 degrees under load. So it definitely does help drop the temps a good bit. I later purchased a CoolIT Systems ECO ALC 240 no maintenance cpu cooling assembly and that dropped my lead temps to 48 degrees celsisu (my idle is 39 degress celsius). You can see my forum post for how the LCS fits in the case and problems/solutions I ran into: [....]

Great chassis,
This review is from: Cooler Master Cosmos S ATX Full Tower Case Black- (RC-1100-KKN1-GP) (Personal Computers)
This is by far the best chassis I have seen out there based on space, construction and design. However it needs improvement on noise and vibration. Also a little more space for cable management would be great too.
