Product Description

The Cooler Master HAF XB EVO takes the famous High Air Flow series to a revolutionary new form factor with extreme cooling performance. The removable horizontal motherboard tray and large mesh top and front panels with two 120mm XtraFlo front fans create powerful front to back airflow. There is plenty of space for even the tallest high performance tower heatsinks, thick water cooling radiators, and up to 3 high-end graphics cards. The side panels with their rigid carrying handles and the top mesh panel can be removed, transforming the HAF XB EVO into a test bench with direct access to internal hardware. The front panel features two USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports as well as two X-Dock slots for lightning fast data transfers.

One of the greatest open design cases out there for the price!

Pros
- Incredible amount of space
- Great air-flow potential
- Slide and dock sata bays
- Water cooling for 240mm radiator support
- Two story design to separate PSU and drives from motherboard
- Easily opens up from every side of the case
- High quality finish
- Handles and design that suits being carried around
- Motherboard tray can be removed for easy installation
- Put a piece of wood on it and it would make a great coffee table too

Cons

I'm not a professional PC tech by any means, so the decision to get this case was purely off curiosity and a need for a new PC case. I previously used a Corsiar mid-sized tower case, and while it was a great case, it was a bit of an eye sore. I actually PC & game from the couch, so it was in our living room and just looked out of place.

While this doesn't change the fact that a PC is on our entertainment center, this thing looks bitchin' compared to the other one. Its design style is very simplistic and it looks great. But don't the looks fool you, this case has a ton of features that a professional PC tech/builder will love.

First off, all sides of this PC case are easily removable via thumbscrew, a huge plus for quick adjustments or fixes on the fly to components. Second, the plate the motherboard connects to is fully removable, so quick additions of new hardware is fast and simple. The case is two tiered, with the bottom section meant for power supplies, cable management, hard drives, cd drives, etc, while the top section is completely open to provide maximum airflow for your components. My previous case had decent airflow, but this case alone dropped my temps down at least 4 degrees (currently idle at around 10c, with maxing out at around 40 to 45c depending on application, this is on air with a Noctua CPU cooler and all fan ports in use).

Two front plate fans come pre-installed, but to really make this thing shine, you'll need to get the 200mm fan for the top plate (sold separately) along with an additional spot for a 120mm/140mm fan in the top tier. That alone makes this case a truly badass case.

The bottom tier allows for installation of two 80mm fans to help airflow on the underside, but are not entirely necessary.

For the first time I decided to build my own custom computer system from scratch using this case. I based my case decision on my reviews that I ran across during my research on the best case to choose. I am glad I purchased this case and very happy with it! This case is designed with the system builder in mind and is very easy to work with as you can access almost everything during the build process very easily. The removable mother board tray makes motherboard installation a snap. The only issues I ran across during the build process were:

1. The case supports five fans but only two 120mm fans are provided. There is good ventilation in the case so this is a minor issue. In any case I purchased enough additional fans to max out the fans as I believe you can never have enough system cooling!

2. With a Corsair Hydro Series H105 CPU cooler installed (I did it in push/pull mode with a total of four fans) there is only room for a 10-1/2inch maximum length graphics card. My EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked w/ACX Cooler graphics card did fit but there isn’t much room left between the card and the cooler.

3. Unless you buy a 200mm fan from Coolermaster you will probably find that any other 200mm fan will probably only be able to be installed with two screws as the four screw holes don’t line up. I had to do this myself but two screws worked just fine for me so I consider this a minor issue.

For years I was looking for a cube style case with a horizontal motherboard tray, Cooler Master finally met my needs in 2012 with the HAF XB. I was always a fan of the HAF series, awesome air flow! This case is perfect for anyone who regularly makes changes/upgrades; It is easy to crack open and there is loads of room for motherboard mounted components. The only drawback was the drives, only 2 3.5" and 3 2.5" but now with Rev. 2 you can have 4 3.5" with the removable drive cages. Another thing, the bottom can get a bit cramped with cabling so be sure to have a fully modular PSU, it is a mess without one.

BEWARE: This thing is LARGE! It will take up a lot of room on your desk.
Lucky for me it fits perfect in a 19" rack and I happen to have plenty of room in the one sitting next to my desk. (I uploaded an image)

This is an awesome case with loads of room and tons of airflow across the components.

(My case is the original not the Rev. 2)
