Product Description

Cooler Master's new HAF XB takes the famous High Air Flow series to a revolutionary new form factor with extreme cooling performance. Packing full ATX motherboard support, steel reinforced carrying handles, modular features, portability, support for up to 3-way SLI/CrossFire, excellent cooling, and the ability to transform between a LAN Box and Test Bench, HAF XB comes in as a part of a new generation of versatile and mobile-friendly computer cases. The removable horizontal mainboard tray, large mesh top, and front panels with two 120mm front fans allow powerful front to back airflow. Despite its compact, rugged design, there is plenty of space for even the tallest high performance tower heatsinks, thick water cooling radiators, and up to 3 of the longest high-end graphics cards. Within seconds the side panels with their rigid carrying handles and the top mesh panel can be removed, transforming the HAF XB into a test bench with direct access to the hardware. The front panel features two USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports as well as two SSD compatible X-Dock slots for lightning fast data transfers.

At any rate, you can use either or both X-Dock slots for 3.5" drives.

Pros: This case may look small from the pictures and reviews but it is actually a beast. This case was used for 7th or 8th PC build and I have yet to find a case that was this easy to work with. The top of the case is so clean and has no clutter what so ever due to the designing of the case. It allows you to bring your wires up top tray right to the spot that they need to be plugged in on the motherboard.

It will except large tower CPU coolers with plenty of room. I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler on my CPU and have plenty of clearance from the top.

I'm not a huge fan of a the cases with LED fans and light so this case is perfect. The power button and the HDD LED are the only lights and are at a perfect brightness.

Had no issues with the X-Dock like other sites have complained about. Both hard drives were immediately found and install was so easy.

Changing parts on this case will be simple due to its open concept.

Cons: The lower section can be a rats nest if you do not have a modular PS. Being able to use just the cables you need will help dramatically. The modular PS helped with routing cables around the lower half.

This is the case I chose for my first self built computer. I like the lower profile which makes for better airflow and ease of assembly.
The upper compartment is basically an open space with all 4 sides open for great airflow. The 2 large fans on the front plus a Noctua NH-D14 6 pipe on the CPU will keep everything cool. On the lower level 2 fans on the rear panel take care of the 2.5" drive bay and large slots along the sides will provide good airflow for the bottom compartment. Loosen six screws and remove the top and sides. They pull off with no effort. The drawers for the two 3.5" drives slide in and out effortlessly.Running all the cables is easy and can be tucked out of the way except right at the PSU. With a total of 6 fans and setting 24" away from my right ear Its very quiet.
This a great looking, well built case and everything mounts really easy. This would be a great choice for your first computer or if you just want something different.

INTRO: Alright, I did not actually buy this case from Amazon, but instead from The Egg. As a normally very loyal Amazon customer, I felt kinda dirty doing that, so sorry guys :(! I've had the case for a little over a week now, but have already tinkered around with it a few times since buying it (you'll see why shortly).

PURPOSE: So, I think it might be useful to explain what my purpose/intended application for this case was. This WAS NOT a new build, but rather a "re-casing." I had an NZXT Phantom (White with Red Trim) Full-Size Tower, and I absolutely loved it - the style, everything. However, I had recently re-purposed the PC inside that case as more of an HTPC for my living room, rather than a full-fledged Gaming Rig for a bedroom/den. And the NZXT was frankly an eyesore next to all my AV equipment. I've always been VERY wary of HTPC/micro-ATX/ITX cases, and wanted to shy away from those. At the same time, I wanted a case that could just fit in my entertainment center, underneath my TV. I checked out the dimensions online and - BINGO - the HAF XB fit the bill perfectly.

Okay, now since you know what I wanted out of the case, I'll list my pro's and con's. Please remember that these are specific to my own experience and my own application for the case. You may feel differently, and you are totally entitled to that right, obviously.

PROS:

(1) Small-ish footprint, BUT makes very few compromises: Okay, so coming from an NZXT Phantom, which was obviously a VERY roomy case, I was a bit afraid that the XB would not have sufficient room to plug in all my stuff without using like little tweezers to plug in cords and whatnot. If this is what you fear, don't be afraid. For starters, you get two 5.25" external drive slots.

This is the coolest case ever made. Takes one minute, watch in hand, to remove a motherboard. Has been designed for optimized cooling.

I love this case. The only complaint I have is the lack of 3.5" HDD slots. Only two slots are available for in the front of the case for 3.5". The internal chassis holds 2.5" SDD. I ended up modifying the interior of the case to hold my three 3.5" HDD, but it would have been nice to have a choice to switch between the various sizes out of the box, without modification. With all that being said, this case is one of my favorites ever. Great airflow and space for all your components. I would recommend to anyone who is going to use no more than two 3.5" HDD.

I love this case. It's by far one of the easiest builds I have ever done. Additionally this case makes cable management a piece of cake since most of the cables can be stuffed in the lower half of the case. For 100 bucks Cooler Master most certainly did the trick with this case. Bear in mind that you have to buy X2 80mm case fans and an extra 120mm fan for sufficient cooling as the two included 120mm fans don't do enough. Also you have the option for the giant 220mm fan on top, but that would just take away from the viewing pleasure of your awesome equipment.
