This is a second release for Boyz II Men's debut album which is now 20 years old. Hard to believe it's been so long. If you own only the original 1991 release you may do very well to pick up this edition as it has some great additions which appeared on the 1993 re-release including the radio version of "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" with music, remixes for "Uhh Ahh", "Sympin'" and a (though it does not say it) UK House Mix for "Motownphilly". Finally it has the Spanish version to "End Of The Road"

In addition to those you also get another disc with the following. Now if you are not a fan of remixes, you may want to get the 1993 re-release and - if this album shows up on Itunes or even Amazon as downloads, maybe you will be able to get the two extra tracks on the second CD which has the following:

1. "Just A Cover Up 5:25 - NEW TRACK
2. "Can't Be Liked 5:52 - NEW TRACK
3. "Motownphilly (12" Version) 5:41
4. "Motownphilly (12" Dub) 4:09
5. "Motownohilly (Quiet Storm Mix) 4:07
6. "Under Pressure (Groovy Remix) 6:34
7. "Under Pressure (Extended Remix) 6:33
8. "Sympin (Remix Version) 5:02
9. "Sympin (Remix Radio Edit Without Rap) 4:18
10. "Uhh Ahh (Remix Version) 4:51
11. "Uhh Ahh (Sequel Version With French Girl) 4:51
12. "Uhh Ahh (Sequel Version Acappella) 4:52
13. "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday (Gospel Version With Dedication) 4:15

Now for those who bought the 1993 re-release, unless you want more than one remix for their hits or don't have the "Remix Collection" You may find this not really worth the extra money.

With so much expectations riding on Michael Bivins (New Edition & Bell Biv Devoe) protégés from Philadelphia, Boyz II Men's debut Cooleyhighharmony was a classic in it's own rights. As the titles may hint, this album contains harmonious ballads where the talents of the quartet may be found. "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" is a prime example of true talent as this song is harmonized in accapella. This LP and group is so multi-dimensional, each of its members add a different sound and feel to each tune. Eight of the ten tracks were produced by Dallas Austin and he seemed to capture and contain the raw talent of these boys as they take some of these other groups back to school!

Acually I really purchase this cd for a friend of mine! But this cd is off the chain! This cd came out when i was only 13! I could dig this! I like that first track "Please don't go away," and that "UUHH AAHH." But I like the remix. they should have put the remix on here to as a bonus track. But it's all good! Thanks Amazon!

If you are fortunate enough to get a hold of this original copy of Cooleyhighharmony then you are in for a treat. This is a beautifully arranged, ten song masterpiece craftfully arranged by Michael Bivins of Bell Biv DeVoe and New Edition fame, and the amazing refined vocals of teenage trendsetters Boyz II Men. Named after the new edition classic song, B2M put the slower ballads as the first set of five songs and the midtempo and dance songs and the second set and the formula works perfectly. There are no duds on the first five tracks as each has its own feel and shows off the groups very rehearsed, but yet sounding spontaneous harmonies. The ability of the group to improvise vocally while singing a rehearsed song really shines on the a capella "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye." After being capitvated by their vocals on the first five tracks, the album switches gears to the #2 Hot 100 debut single "Motownphilly" which the group has an infectious dance groove with their harmonies being shown off classically with the bridge. Dance and midtempo grooves ride you till the end.

Their writing and vocal delivery and arrangement shows a maturity that many superstar artists don't master until they are almost irrelavent. B2M managed to capture R&B, pop, and adult contemporary fans with one album.

Naptowns Classic

PS: There was a new edition of this album put out after the group finally reached number one on the Billboard charts with "End of the Road" powered by a Babyface produced track and originally found on the Boomerang original soundtrack. However, I have to insist on going to cop the original album. Being multiplatinum, you should have no problem finding a good used or almost new copy on Amazon.

Back in 1990 New Edition and all of their sub-acts ruled R & B and Pop. A year later, Mike Biv formed Biv Entertainment. His first act was ABC - a preteen act that scored a top 10 R & B hit with "Ieasha". To piggy back off of that success he picked this Philly quartet with 4 distinct voices harmonizing old school Motown style. Thus spawned the single "MotownPhilly". It was okay in my opinion, but the slow jams were what made this album. This is my favorite album from Boyz II Men, because II was too mainstream. The uptempo songs are good as well. Top joints are Little Things, This is my heart, Please dont go, Lonely Heart, Uhh Ahh and It's so hard to say goodbye.
