I own a total of 4 UPF 50+ shirts, this being one of them. The shirt, while more expensive, is very well made and is truer to size than other shirts. Others are skin tight when ordering 2 sizes larger. For this shirt, one size larger is loose and comfortable.

I both swim and run in an indoor pool in New England. During vacations I swim in the ocean. I am sensitive to the cold and this shirt works great. It is comfortable, has not chaffed me at all and is comfortable in the water. It does keep your body temperature from dropping. I have used this for several year and highly recommend it. For those considering choose the short sleeve over the long sleeve. The long sleeve does not work as it stretches out while you are swimming and becomes unusable.

I'm a big guy (fat).. so I usually have a problem swimming in public.

Since I got this "Swim Shirt".. Swimming is so much better!

This shirt withstood the test of several days in July 98+ degree heat and direct sunlight on the beach and at the pool. I purchased several of these shirts and I'm glad I did as they prevented any sunburn on the parts they covered. They remained cool in the heat and dried quickly in the sun. They look great and the material holds up; only problem was deciding on which colors to choose.

I purchased this for my husband who burns very easily and he loves it. He has never gotten sunburned and he's been in the sun all day wearing it. He also likes wearing it in the pool with all the kids because it keeps the kids from pulling his chest hair out when they grab for him in the water. It's a great shirt for anyone who spends lots of time outdoors.

So here's my review of the Coolibar UPF swim shirt. I need to preface this review with 2 things:

1) I just got married in October and our honeymoon was planned at an All Inclusive Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico
2) I am light skinned and sunburn easily (red hair, blue eyes, freckles

The reason i am prefacing this review with that info is because (A) I need SPF 50 (or higher) sunblock whenever i go outside in the sun (and sometimes even when it's cloudy); and (B) my honeymoon destination was a very hot and sunny locale where i would need to bring lots of sunblock.. or in this case an investment in a Coolibar Swim Shirt.

I will keep this review short, but bottom line, this shirt delivers. I did not get sun burnt at all when in Mexico, but of course i did have to apply sun block to other areas not covered by the shirt (arms, neck, face, ears, legs). So really my question i posed to my fiancee was "Wouldn't a regular shirt suffice?" I mean think about it, if you have a shirt or pants or whatever covering your skin, then you're really not going to get sun burned. But the difference is the material in the shirt that allows it to dry quickly. I went for a dip in the ocean/pool and when I got out and sat, my shirt was pretty much completely dry in a couple minutes. I like that. A lot of swim shirts tend to stay wet and then you just get cold after a while after getting out of the pool.

also (and this isn't a big deal for most people, but it definitely gives the Coolibar shirt another check plus for me!): The shirt doesn't balloon up with air when you step in the water. I don't know how many people typically wear shirts in the water, but i grew up wearing shirts, just because of my light skin and tendency to burn easier and more quicker than other people. I don't tan. I freckle. But anyways, the difference with the coolibar shirt is that when stepping into the water (ocean or pool) it conformed to my body. I've worn shirts where the fabric will make the shirt "balloon" up with pockets of air. Anytime you dive or submerge into the water you get a nice little pocket of air underneath your shirt. Uncomfortable. The coolibar shirt did not do this. So it was perfect for lounging at the pool or battling the waves in the ocean. Like I said, this isn't a big deal for most people, but it's one little thing i did notice

CONS - is it worth the $50 for it? A couple of other reviewers said they found Speedo or another brand for cheap at a sporting good store. I dunno. To me, i feel like this shirt is an investment. It's NOvember now, but when the pools open back up again next year, I know I am going to be wearing it a lot more. And I feel like you get what you pay for. If this shirt lasts for more than 5 years, than yes I will say $50 is def worth it. But if it starts wearing sooner, than I may revisit some other competitors wares.

I did not use this shirt for surfing or anything so I can't comment on the "Surf rashes" that people mention.

Bottom line, give it a chance. You will still need to put sun block on the rest of your body that the shirt doesn't cover. Kinda seems like common sense doesn't it?

I originally purchased this shirt because swim shirts are hard to find at stores so I ended up buying one online even though it's a bit pricey for $50. Nonetheless it's a good swim shirt. Subsequent to buying this shirt I have found that Sports Authority carries very similar swim shirts by Speedo which I bought on sale for $17. Much more affortable and almost identical quality and works just as well. Again good swim shirt but a bit pricey for $50.

Delighted with the shirt. Wanted it for swimming and being out in the sun. Good fit, feels comfortable even when in the water. Dries quickly. Looks smart. No down side. Vendor service was excellent.

No more worrying about reapplying sunscreen on back, neck, shoulders and chest.
Perfect solution.
Disliked other brands sold at beachwear stores as they are tight-fitting and constricting.

Looks and feels great absolutely love it tempted to get two more coolibars
