This review is from: Coolidge and the Historians (Paperback)
Professor Silver has done excellent research in his examination of other historians' flawed writing concerning Calvin Coolidge. He is right on target in his findings. I wish I had seen this book when doing my own research in college, as it dispels many myths surrounding the Coolidge White House years. His sources and research is detailed which sheds new light on why Calvin Coolidge has been maligned by casual biographers giving sweeping statements which are not properly validated. I highly recommend this for the serious student of Calvin Coolidge.

A damning indictment of Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. and others,

This review is from: Coolidge and the Historians (Paperback)
An illuminating defense of the presidency of Calvin Coolidge and withering examination of the shameless partisanship of progressive/liberal "historians" such as Schlesinger.
Silber's extensive review leaves the reader with a sense of the shameless advocacy of Democrat partisan historians including the omissions, the errors, the false light portraits and misleading out of context quotations. The book takes a look at the Boston Police Strike, and taxation among other topics. Both have much relevance to today's debates on government unionization and tax policy. A book with a message for today; it should be reprinted. |
