I recently purchased this cooling stand for my Xbox 360 Slim and have been pleasantly surprised. Normally, with other fans for 360s, they are either very noisy, or are low quality and don't move a lot of air. This cooling stand, however, is nearly whisper quiet and moves an incredible amount of air for the size of the 2 fans inside. They are located in the foremost 50% of the stand and draw air from the top, downward and out vents underneath. The cooling stand has small, raised rubber feet which keep it just off of the surface it is setting on enabling the air to move downward and away from the console. Upon plugging the fan into a USB port I found that it does not automatically turn itself on. Instead there is a small switch on the back of the stand to activate the fans. Once turned on the fans whirr to life and begin moving large amounts of air, very quickly, through the stand. I held the cooling stand about 1ft (12 inches) away from my face and felt my face begin to chill as the air was drawn past me. The fans in this cooling stand really do their job, and do it well. There is a nice green LED light which shines upward near the front of the stand when the power is turned on which adds a nice touch seeing as how the silver 360 ring on the front of the console has a green light as well. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I only found 2 things which would classify as "Cons" to me.

1. The USB cable isn't part of the stand itself. It is a separate cable, which comes included, but must be inserted into an AC adapter socket on the back of the stand. I worry about pieces like this wearing and or breaking with repeated use. Just be careful when plugging in and when removing the USB cable from the stand.

I am very pleased with this cooling fan. This is definitely worth purchasing for the life of your Xbox and games. Prior to purchasing this, I already had to replace one game because of damage done to the disc from heat. You can definitely tell a big difference in the heating of the console while running the cooling fan. I always turn the fan on when turning on the console and leave the fan running for about 10 to 15 minutes after turning the console off to keep it as cool as possible. I would recommend this to anyone who values the life of their Xbox consoles and games!!!

As any 360 owner knows, these things run hot. I went through 4 old model 360s before buying the slim model. The slim definitely runs cooler than it's predecessor, but still runs pretty warm over long periods of time. Buying this fan killed two birds with one stone seeing as I needed extra shelf space and wanted to stand my system vertically. The fan keeps my system much cooler. It is a little loud, but still quieter than the old model 360 ran on it's own. My only real gripe is that the on/off switch is located at the back of the unit, making me have to reach behind it to turn the fan on or off. This problem is easily solved by turning the unit around (this doesn't affect stabilty whatsoever). This does mean you have to use a front usb port instead, so it's something to keep in mind of you'll be needed both your ports. Otherwise this unit is a great investment to help protect you 360. There's also the fact that the controller dock on one side slightly covers the heating vent. This never seemed to affect my system's cooling, but did warm up one of my controllers to the point of possible concern. I don't think this is a problem, but it does have slight potential for long-term controller issues. Of course simply removing the controller while playing and returning when done solve this issue just fine.

Well for starters I bought this mainly for the stand as it was aesthetically pleasing. However I did not anticipate the holders for the controllers.

Had it been on only one side, this wouldn't be an issue, but one of them partially blocks the side vent of the Xbox 360 Slim. This is a HUGE flaw, it actually counters what the "Cooling Stand" Is suppose to do.

The internal fans are also horrible, I opened it to re-grease them, and that only reduced the sound slightly, it was still very loud. Okay, so maybe I could replace them? Nope, I'd have to buy a soldering Kit for that as the wires are soldered directly to the controller.

It also vibrates my desk, the front light is ridiculously bright ( not really needed since you'd know if it was on or not due to the noise ), and you have to turn it on and off manually from a very sharp and scratchy switch in the back... Poorly located switch.

But it still looks pretty I guess haha.

I live in California, so it's not like we get scorching heat. But it does get pretty hot in the summer, which causes my Xbox get's hot when I play it. So I thought I would buy this thinking it would help. It hooks up to the USB port in the back of the Xbox, which is nice that you don't have to waste the ports in the front, but that's how it is powered. It runs off the electricity from the Xbox console. Did nothing but make this annoying noise and heat up my Xbox faster. Also standing your Xbox in a vertical position is bad. It can ruin the Xbox and any game that you have inside of it, and by ruin I mean destroyed, non playable. The Xbox should be set down, horizontally, so you have a lesser change of knocking it over. In my experience, it only made my Xbox heat up faster, was annoying, didn't make me feel comfortable. I was able to return it and get my money back. Now I just have a small fan running while I am playing and it does a WHOLE lot better job. Maybe you might have a different experience, but this one is mine.
