5.0 out of 5 stars Very good power supply
I've been building my own PC's for over 10 years now, and there are two things I've learned not to skimp on: cases and power supplies. That means replacing the el cheapo power supplies that come with most cases.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not with my compaq
After going through hassle of returning one to PC Cooling, was finally told the unit does not work with my Compaq Presario. Proprietary stuff from Compaq. Was able to return for full refund. What is really irritating is that Compaq does not offer an upgrade to their little (165W) power supply even with the proprietary design!!!

I've been building my own PC's for over 10 years now, and there are two things I've learned not to skimp on: cases and power supplies. That means replacing the el cheapo power supplies that come with most cases.
This is even more critical with today's multi-core processors, large amounts of memory, and large hard drives, and DVD drives. This product gives lots of good, clean power, has a single rail design with 35A on the main (12V) rail. There are also more plugs than you'll probably ever need
(I just tucked the unused ones into a empty drive bay).

I just bought a second one of these puppies for another one of my boxes - same comments apply

I ordered this power supply and I received it, but it was broken the first time. Thankfully Amazon's RMA process is easy and I got a second PSU shortly and its been working since. Its nice and quiet. It gets the job done, I havent checked the noise on the voltage rails, but I'm happy with it.

I've been through 2 power supplies in the past year and a half, this one has lasted for a while and is still running strong. Love the color and size, will always buy from PC Power and Cooling from now on!

5.0 out of 5 stars works as advertized, September 11, 2009
This review is from: PC Power and Cooling PPCS500 Silencer 500 EPS 12V 80+ Certified Power Supply (Personal Computers)
I needed to replace a server-class PS from Sparkle which died long before its MTBF, and picked this for energy rating and quiet. I was quite pleased that it worked, significantly lowered power usage (390 to 350 Watts), and was much more quiet than the Sparkle PS.

I purchased it because of brand name. But it has too long cords for mid size case.
