My older computer started to shutdown unexpectedly and repeatedly.
Upon checking the older power supply with a testing device it was found defective.

This one was very easy to install, works great and is indeed less noisy then the previous one.

I guess it's a great buy for the money.

Started out pretty loud, and after 2 months got louder. The the fan died, it overheated, and can I have my money back now? No.
So my advice is, go to your local Staples and get one, maybe pay the $7.99 warranty as well. No point waiting for this piece of garbage.

I got this PS to replace an old 250 and it is much quieter and works as advertised.
The case is cheap, and you have to watch that you don't over torque the mounting screws or they will strip out. The old 250 has a much heavier case and does not have this problem. This is the only drawback I have noticed.
Considering the low price, this is a great replacement or diagnostic PS to have around for the older top mount units.

I read the reviews for both the "silent" and non-silent version of this power supply and decided to spend the extra cash for the quiet version. The silent power supply functions fine, but it is by no means silent or even quiet. It's very loud. I can't imagine how loud the non-silent version is. The stock powersupply that came with my PC's case was much much quieter than this "silent" coolmax. If I had it to do over again, I would buy something else. I may even shop around for another and just keep the Coolmax as a spare.

Bought this as a replacement for dead power supply. It was easy to install and it runs much quieter than my previous one. It also helps that the price was great especially since it is a quiet running model and it was for an older computer that only had moderate power requirements. Don't waste your money on those 500 and 600 watt models when you don't need them.
