Coolsat 6000 FTA Satellite Receiver

Unless you plan to use the 6000 model, the 5000, or 4000 models for true free to air don't waste your money. Support for these models virtually doesn't exist. I have two of them...they will probably make good bookends! Move on to Viewsat, Sonicview, or Captiveworks.

The Coolsat 6000 gave me a good introduction to the world of Digital Satellite TV.
The receiver is well designed and simple to use however,it took some time and research to understand how to operate it.The menus are simple to understand and user friendly.The quality of sound and video is very good.
There are a few issues that one should note:
The blind scan function is slow and can take a while to scan a single satellite.
The User Manual is of very little use as it is poorly written.Most of the on screen functions are skipped over or not explained.Description of the menus are sketchy and of very little benefit to the user,hence the search for information on how to setup and use the receiver.
Although it doesn't have all the bells as a more expensive types,it is good,stable receiver and and the price one cannot go wrong.

If you only want true FTA and don't mind no technical support at all, then this box is a good buy. The manufacturer is closing up shop, and support will disappear too.
