4.0 out of 5 stars The George Foreman of fridges.
This device delivers on its promise: it honestly does chill your soda/beer/wine orders of magnitude faster than the fridge or the freezer. The downside is that it does not do the chilling by itself: water and ice must be supplied. The directions recommend two trays of ice and two cups cold water, which is more than enough for getting a 12-pack to 38F. My experience was...

My experience was that it took 25% longer using only one tray of ice. The device makes a tiny amount of noise, say 1/10th that of a dish washer, but they brilliantly have a "no spin" (quiet) mode should you be using this in an office/baby nursery/library. The button layout and design are extremely well thought out. Press "Can", or "bottle", and "spin" or "no spin".

All appliances should be this effective and easy to use.

So I got the Cooper Cooler for my office. It seemed so cool and slick. And the description said it brings soda cans down to 34 degrees in a minute. Doesn't get much better than that right? WRONG!
The little detail the editorial forgot to mention was that you have to put ice-cubes (YES, ICE CUBES) in the device in order for it to cool down your soda. Well, I've got a news flash for you - if I had ice cubes handy I could put them in my soda and be done with it. And ice cubes are much cheaper than this device.

So bear in mind this cooler is only useful if you have a real fridge near by and want to cool things fast. That's the only valid use-case. There you go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really works, chills drinks fast and easily, great for wine, June 2, 2003

I was skeptical at first that it would work, but I got one after I saw it featured in Kiplingers magazine. It worked as advertised. Chills my beer/soda cans quick in one minute and my bottles in three and a half minutes and like they say, it dosen't fizz over which I was really skeptical about. Glass bottles can sometimes rattle a bit but this dosen't seem to be a problem since its still not fizzy. Also great for chilling my wine quickly to the proper serving temp. I never really noticed the taste difference until I used my Cooper Cooler to chill my white wines to the recommended temperature in the mid-low 50s (only took three and a half minutes!!!) vs refrigerator temp which they say is too cold for most white wines. I was surprised that the difference in serving temp had an impact on the wine's taste, flavor, etc... It can sometimes groove the wine labels, but I don't care, but FYI if you collert the labels they have a no spin mode which dosen't sping the bottle. Real easy to use b/c of the electronic touch pad with easy to understand beverage chill settings and clean up is a snap, just empty the ice water bath in the sink. I store my wine outside the fridge now to make more room for other stuff since I can quickly chill my wine whenever I need it like when guests come over or whatever. Really recommend for the wine drinker b/c it can chill your wine quickly to the proper serving temp and great for the person who throws allot of parties since it can chill just about anything! Great conversation piece at parties.

1.0 out of 5 stars Your bottles might not fit, December 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage Chilling Appliance (Kitchen)
I received my Cooper Cooler yesterday with much anticipation. After unpacking the unit I took three of my favorite wines to test fit. I found that the Chardonay I drink does not fit in the machine and neither did the Champagne, the slender bottles did fit. Since it seemed like the machine was about a half inch too narrow I called the company and explained my problem. I was told that they were aware that most Champagne will not fit and some of the new special format bottles will also not fit and the company is looking into a solution(make it a half or three quarters inch wider would seem a no brainer).Since I did not test its cooling capabilities I can only tell you that since I could not fit the wine bottles that I normally drink in the machine it did not work at all. Also I am still trying to figure out why anyone would buy this thing to cool a can of soda?

5.0 out of 5 stars Chills better than the competition, December 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage Chilling Appliance (Kitchen)
I have been looking for a product to chill my wine and beer fast for a long time. We just don't have the room in our refrig. to keep all our beer and wine. I have bought a Peliter chiller before, but they did not work. They never chilled my beverage cold enough. I bought this item because their website was specific about what temperature it can chill beverages to. When I received it and tried it on my beer and wine, I was shocked to see that it really chilled it ice cold based on the setting. If you want a cold beer or glass of wine and you do not have anything chilled, your options are to wait a long time in the refrig. or freezer (because you don't want to add ice to your beer or wine) or add some ice and water to the Cooper Cooler and have a drink within minutes. The Cooper Cooler is easy to use because all you have to do is press the button for what you are drinking and the machine does the rest and shuts off when your drink is cold. This machine solved our problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, December 23, 2005

After two years of moderate use our Cooper Cooler continues to chill perfectly. Mostly we use it for wine. It's a great conversation piece as well. If there is a downside I would say that it could be slightly larger because not all wine bottles fit.

my friend got me a cooper cooler as a gift, and i had it sitting around for a while and whatever, it was just okay...but then after a while i started using it once or twice, and it really does cool soda cans really fast. i drink a lot of diet coke, and its slightly easier than filling up the fridge. i mean, its not going to change your life, but it makes drinking things (anyway) a little easier to do.

best, B

Tonight I was at a gathering with my co-workers, and I brought along my Cooper Cooler for everyone to use. I cannot describe the enthusiasm that was expressed as people witnessed their warm beverages cool in just minutes. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to clear up space in their refrigerator ~ with this unit, no one needs to put drinks in the refrigerator, as any drink item can be cooled in just minutes. This product will pay for itself over and over again!

This thing is amazing. It saves me so much space in the fridge. The only thing I hate is when I put wine bottles in it. Often I forget to write down what wines I have. When I forget to put the cooler on no spin it kills the labels. However this is entiresly my fault. I would tell anyone to buy this cooler.
