4.0 out of 5 stars Shower light, January 13, 2012
This review is from: Cooper Lighting 70PS 6-Inch Wet Location and AirTite Listed Trim with Frosted Albalite Lens, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
This lens is good for shower installs. We matched it up with a Halo airtight housing and we are pleased. I did paint the plastic trim bright white to match the ceiling. I used spray paint for plastic. The color was just slightly off white. The lens attaches using wire hangers. You popped these hangers into the housing slots and push into place. When you want to change out the bulb you just pull down on the edge of the trim and it hangs in place but gives you room for your hand to put the bulb in. Easy. It is only rated for 45 watt incandescent bulb. We used a cfl bulb in it. Not too bright but just enough.

This looks great in our shower. I am so happy to have it. Very classy, yet understated, so that our tilework shines, and no one notices the overhead light except me because it's new. Easy to install, gives off a great amount of light... so far so good.

This trim covers the Halo recessed light can well, diffuses the light, and seems to have an air and vapor tight seal. Looks nice.

Plate worked as advertised. It is air and moisture tight. However, light is somewhat dimmer. I am going to order another plate for my second bathroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the right one for a 6-in shower can light, February 10, 2012

After 15 years my old shower light trim started to peel paint and rust, so I took it off and started to sand and paint it. Then I thought, why would someone make a shower light trim out of painted metal? I checked Amazon and sure enough the builder has installed the regular trim by mistake, looks the same, but the shower light trim is solid plastic, it will never rust. But, hey, if Cooper can make a painted metal one that will last 15 years in a shower this new one has to be good.

First, turn off power at the circuit breaker and tape it with a warning flag, then check that is it off (hopefully you have an inductive voltage checker). You're going to be standing in a shower, don't work unless you're sure the power is off and someone will not turn it on until you do

Pull straight down on the trim cover, it will come down a few inches and stop if it was properly installed. Reach behind and push 4 spring legs out of their slots and remove, do one at a time good practice for installing new one. As long as you're there put in a new light bulb of the correct size and type.

The spring legs on the new trim are tough to compress with old hands, push them together towards each other and pre-form them somewhat before starting to install. Put one leg in a light can slot and push on the second which will compress the one that's already in. Hook it in the second side of the same slot. Do the other side the same way. Push the trim straight up until it seats on the shower ceiling.

Turn on the circuit breaker and test. Trim should last a lifetime.
