Cooper Wiring Devices ASPIRE 9534 Smart Master Dimmers operate Incandescent, Halogen, and Magnetic Low-Voltage lighting load types. Electro-mechanical push pad for ON/OFF operation with separate DIM/BRIGHT bar. Push pad design provides minimal travel and crisp actuation. Preset feature allows user to return to previous light setting when turning lights on. LED light level display for presetting illumination levels and master/accessory units for multi-location control. Amber LED at bottom of LED display indicates ON/OFF load status. Seven step green LED display on push pad indicates selected light level - and reduces brightness when OFF (night light feature). Pressing and holding push pad for 2 seconds when dimmer is off brings light to full brightness without affecting preset levels. Offers a 10 second delayed-off feature by pressing and holding push pad for 2 seconds when dimmer is on. Replaces a standard switch and offers dimmer capabilities. Digital circuitry provides aesthetically pleasing soft-on/fade-off that extends lamp life. Neutral is not required for installation of device (excluding Fluorescent Dimmer models). Incandescent and Magnetic Low-Voltage offered in single unit version. Installation speed enhancements include virtually unbreakable, ultrasonically welded top and blackbody, extra-long, extra-wide mounting straps and easy access ground screws. Air-gap switch disconnects power from load, forcing an OFF condition. Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) filtering for radio, audio and video equipment. Power failure memory. Electrostatic discharge protection. Square Law Dimming - perceived dimming level is proportional to the slider position. Compatible with any decorator wall plate. I installed a few of these units. The overall design is very nice. They replace existing switched without a problem. There are however a couple of issues with these:

They incorporate a feature that limits the full voltage going to the lights. This saves energy, but lower the intensity of your bulbs. This a a big issue if you are using L.E.D. bulbs at an already limited wattage. There should be a way to bypass this, but there isn't.

I purchased masters and slaves and found that they are not consistent in their design. The masters have two indicator lights that are on all the time an orange and green L.E.D. The slaves only have the orange L.E.D. on when they are actually on. I contacted the company and they said they have gone through design changes. You would think they would be consistent throughout their designs. Bad choice.

They work great--if you like hearing a lot of buzzing. No kidding--a single unit emits an audible buzzing sound, which gets louder the dimmer the light setting. Imagine if you had more than one unit within earshot of the other? Holy buzzing, Batman. For what it's worth, these barely buzz at all when off or completely on (i.e., with no dim). But, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a, you know, dimmer?

Other than the buzzing, these look and work great.

Strongly discourage purchasing these dimmer switches. Bought seven of them today from Lowes; returning them all tomorrow. This is a serious product fail. Can't even believe they can mass-produce these.

I installed one of these master switches (if you're installing one of these, you must install the master. Just installing the slave alone will not work) in my bathroom, and it looked good and was quiet. When I turned on the light there was an audible buzzing sound that wasn't present in my previous dimmer which was an analog, not digital switch. I replaced this with a Leviton switch which is completely silent. I don't know if the problem is present in all of these switches but it certainly was in mine.

The switch is pretty cool. You tap the large button to turn the light on, and then the rocker switch at the side is then held down to either increase or decrease the intensity of the light depending upon whether you press the top or bottom of the switch. There was no step that I could see, the light dimmed smoothly and continuously. I also liked that when tapped the light ramped up to the last light level, instead of going full brightness forcing you to dim it or requiring that you hold the switch down to set the light level at turn on. You could also set the dim level using the rocker switch and then turn the light on to that dim level. Genius!

Two LEDs of the 7 remained lit at all times: the very bottom one indicates power and was orange on my model, the second, which was green indicated approximate light level.

I would have kept this were it not for the incessant buzzing noise. It was a shame really, I like it much more than the switch I am using instead.

3 stars because the buzzing made me replace it, but without the buzzing this is a 5 star switch.
