the connnection of TM revolution and electric music history,
By taka(Japanese (Tokyo, Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coordinate (Audio CD)
TM revolution will be one of the main stream artists on Japanese digital sounds. If you have the image that Japan is just a animation country and the reason that you have known about the artist may be the influence of the animation theme songs, but the true charms of Japanese music never finish by such surface culture, in fact, the digital sounds like Tm Revolution are never talked without Japanese digital or computer sounds history.
TM revolution is a singer who appeared at the middle of 90'(1996) like shooting star in Japanese music scene. Since that time, he have got big hit singles (top 10 chart singles over 10 songs), his music character will be just digital sounds with computer sounds. Why did he form such digital sounds? The key exists in his main sounds producer, Daisuke Asakura, he belonged to a duo group who consisted of two men Access(was active from 1992 to 95, they have never gotten the No1 chart song however gotton 11 songs in the top 10 Japanese chart, were duo who made special age), Access's sounds style was digital sounds too. After Access broke up, Daisuke Asakura got to be active as a music producer mainly. Off course at that time even, he have maintained the sounds color of digital that he formed in Access age. After that, he had the interests to Takanori Nishikawa the vocalist of TMR, he invited him to play with as TMR. That is why, now TMR sounds were formed. If I untie the music history of Japanese digital or computer sounds more, though the study exists some case, it may be right that the origin were YMO(Yellow Magic Orchestra). Ryuuichi Sakamoto, now one of the Japanese famouse music composer over the world, belonged to YMO as the band member once. YMO was a legendary band that was active 1979-83, was mixed digital sounds and techno sounds. The sounds is shokings in good means even if listen now. A revolution on Japanese music scene at the middle of 80' broke. That was TM Network, a band that was active from 84 to 94 and got 18 songs in Japanese top 10 chart including 6 songs No1 songs. Tetsuya Komuro that was one of the member was the TM Network's main sounds composer(# though TMR and TMN is same artist name, there is no the connection, that is chance, the truth will be interesting). He had produced incredible splendid digital sounds by using his special ability on the activity as TMN. One of Komuro's impotant points was not just digital sounds, that is, he used computer sounds very skillfully. If we consider about the old age of the middle of 80', the techniques was very revolutionary. The scene that he was surrounded many digital keyboards around was very shocking. If you have the chance, I recommend that you watch the TMN live performance video at those days. As you know, he leaded Japanese music scene (at those time, he produced TRF, Glove, Namie Amuro, Ryouko Shinohara, Tomomi Kahara, DOS and so on, some of them were No1 top chart singers. Incredible truth, the age was called Komuro Sounds Age because his activity as the composer was very shocking)of the middle of 90' as a main sound composer. The appearance of Access produced the new aspect in digital sounds, that is, they added the portable value on digital instlements, that was portable keyboards. The looking that Asakura put on the keyboards to his shoulders by using belts was very cool. Until the time have arrived to nowtime, many digital artists or bands have appeared, for instance, ELT(every little things) or Two-Mix, off course TMR... Because the writing is too long, I will write about their artists or music history after days. Anyway if you are the fans of TMR or digital sounds, it will be good choice that you listen to YMO on the point of techno and digital mixing sounds and the origin, listen to TMN(TM Network)on beautiful melodies and digital sounds(I recommend TM Network especially), Access, Two-Mix(may be if you are Anime fans, may know about Two-Mix, though they were not famouse artists in Japan, the revolutionary sounds of mixing digital and Eurosounds are good too) I am writing about Japanese music expecially from 80' to early 90'. If you have the interests to my review, please watch my other reviews. Japanese great singers are not always the famouse singers who are active now like Ayumi Hamasaki, Hikaru Utada and so on. Thank you for reading poor English to the last words.

An Excellent CD!!!,

To start off with, this is a great music CD! There is nothing dissapointing about it (well except that you only get the roma-ji lyrics). If you have watched Gundam Seed or Rurouni Kenshin then you alseady know his style of music(which is how I got started into his music). If you are just now getting into J-Pop this is a great CD to start off with. You won't have to skip any of his songs because they are all good! As soon as I found out about this release I just had to get it. And on Tofu Records website you can get a DVD(T.M. Revolution Sonic Warp) featuring music videos of some of the songs on this CD. Like Out of Orbit, Invoke, Meteor, and the Otakon Concert version of Heart of Sword. But you can only get at Tofu Records website. And I have also heard that in March there will be another US released verison CD coming out. But I can't be sure of that. All in all this a great CD! A must have!!!!

He did it again! Another amazing album from T.M.Revolution!!! The album Coordinate is full of fast paced music with a euro dance flair. For all of you anime lovers out there, there are two traks form some of your favorite anime. Heart fo Sword is the end title song from Roruni Kenshin and Invoke, the main theme from Gundam Seed. The song Metor also appears in an episode of Gundam Seed. Takanori Makes Revolution will keep you going for hours with another awesome album!!! Don't miss it and check out some of T.M.Revolution's other albums too. Prgress and Suite Season are my favoties.

After listening to all songs of this album, I must say that T.M. Revolution really delivers this time! I espscially like "Invoke" and "Meteor", which are from Gundam Seed, since I'm a great Gundam fan. These music really are really appealing to my heart, and should do the same to everyone else, because they describe a person's heart and soul in their earnest level. This album really got the essence of both neoclassic and modern music. I'd definitely love to recommand this album to everyone! I'll give this album an A+, aka 5 stars, for outstanding vocal and music presentations.
Go, T.M.R.!

The song that expose TMR to me was Hear of Sword (ending theme song from Rurouni Kenshin). The first time I heard it, I was mesmerized (by his singing and the music). I have to say that this is one of the album that I listen to without skipping and loved every songs. If you're thinking about buying this, you should. It's a great album. It is even better that TMR decided to include a bonus track, Heart of Sword, which the Japanese version doesn't have.

This is the first T.M.R. cd I ever bought and it truly made me into a fan. It's got great upbeat songs like Abort//Clear and Out of Orbit and classics like Invoke (gundam Seed) and Heart of Sword (Rurouni Kenshin). He has a truly unique voice and can really touch your soul. (Even if you can't understand what he's saying, it's cool. Go look for translations then!) Anyway, I reccomend this cd to any Jpop or Jrock fan. He truly is a great artist that I think you'll enjoy time and time again. 5stars baby 5 stars! Holla!
