J Briant,
This review is from: Cop Tales 2000 (Paperback)
An Outstanding collection of Stories associated with the world of Law Enforcement, crafted by Authors that have lived the experience of the world of COPS. It is a must read. It brings you incidents of the real world that we all exist in. I read them twice. Read Cop Tales 2000, you'll love it. Fascinating.

I loved reading this book because I always wondered what being a police officer was like. The stories in Cop Tales 2000 made me feel as though I was right there on the street with the cops. If you want to read about what real cops do, this is the book! I highly recommend it.

By my count there are 24 different contributors to this collection. Eight of the authors are represented by multiple stories. All of the authors are not actually police officers. Most are, but some are in closely allied fields. There are true stories as well as some fantasy adventures included. Some of the tales are quite moving such as Keith Bettinger's Follow The Northwind about a park ranger and his Newfoundland dog who sacrificed their lives to save a lost camper. Marlene Loos' But For The Grace tells how Jen, the police officer, came upon an old college classmate who had deteriorated to the point of being virtually unrecognizable. Vertical Patrol by Gina Gallo told about eleven year old Latrell Daniels who grew up in the projects and wanted a pair of Air Jordans. He worked at odd jobs to get them. He was shot. His shoes were stolen. Tragic.
The stories are by and large quite good. But to my taste, somewhat uneven because of so many different authors. Nevertheless, I found this to be worthwhile. |
