this book is not about Danielle/Beverly,
This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Hardcover)
if you are buying this book to know about Beverly Staub role in the story, you can find excerpts of it on the internet. You dont need to spend a single dollar just to read the few parts of the book where she is being mention.

Try "Cop without his facts straight",
By A Customer
This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Hardcover)
Just what kind of fact checking was actually done on this book anyway? Kevin Maher always has and always will be known as a snake and for anyone to take his word at face value is incomprehensible. Kevin, I hope you are reading this. A set of facts as simple as those surrounding the death of your father you have distorted to suit you and make you look like a superhero. Your father did NOT die 8/9/74 the day you were released from prision as your story so eloquently puts it, with you rushing to his side just a minute too late. Your father died Aug. 9 of 1977 of a heart attack on the subway. You would not take care of the burial arrangements so your uncle Ron had to purchase a plot in Fairview Cemetary in NJ to bury him where he rests today, left out the part about how you got your Uncle Patrick kicked off the force and had the nerve to show up for his wake. You always were and are, a slimeball. This book is a farce.

Cop without a Badge,

This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Hardcover)
This book was good, but not $189.00. good! Funny after people watched "Housewifes of New Jersey" and talked about one of the cast members being in it, the price shot up. Belive me it is not worth $189.00.

From someone who knows the REAL story:,

This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Hardcover)
Hey Kevin: I've been speaking with your Uncle Lawrence and Uncle Ron, this entire book is a fabrication and you know it. You are a rat in every sense of the word. Your own sister won't speak to you, your Uncles want to have a "word" with you, (guess thats why you wont tell us where in jersey you are you rat fink) your cousins Donnie & Al would like a word with you as well, your Uncle Paddy, God rest his soul wanted to kill you till his dying day and your father, Kelly, would be turning in his grave if he read all the lies in here. That story about you rushing to the hospital as he died was priceless, how do you think that crap up? He had a heart attack and died on the subway you idiot, and you got the date wrong as well, BY OVER A YEAR!!! Do some research and get your facts right before you BS around them. Kevin Maher has been exiled by his entire family, he is a rat fink who never thought of anyone but himself. This ENTIRE book is a fabrication. Ask Kevin what happened when he showed up at his Uncle Paddy's funeral. Go on, tell em Kev.

About "Daniell",

This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Hardcover)
Of course no one is going to pay this kind of money for that book, and I wouldn't pay that much on ebay either. All you need to know about "Danielle" is on Gawker, the two pages she is in the book, and her mug shot. Save your money, this will never be a collectors item.Oh, and her real name is Beverly Merrill, you can find all you want with that info.

entertaining read,
This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Paperback)
Cop Without a Badge is an easy read that someone can read through in less than a week. It tells of a interesting life lived by Kevin Maher. While it seems too out there to be true, true or not it keeps your attention and is definitely a page turner. I read some previous reviews and people are angry about the book not being about Danielle from RHONJ. Guess what, the publisher, author, nor Kevin Maher never advertised is as such, the subtitle is "The Extraordinary Undercover Life Of Kevin Maher." If you are just interested in the book for the information on Danielle, I wouldn't purchase the book. But if you are interested in an entertaining story and are interested in crime history in the NJ/NYC area, it is definitely a book for you. Mr. Maher is a gentleman you either love or hate throughout the novel. You are either rooting for him to get clean, sober, and happy or get caught for the crimes he is commiting while being an undercover informant. Mr. Kipps did a good job of intertwining many different stories into chronological order so it was easy to follow. By no means is this book a Ulysses or Moby-Dick, nor should readers expect it to be this masterpiece just because it was brought up on a TV show. It is meant to entertain you, note the word entertain, and if there are some embellishments here and there, who cares!

Kevin Maher, you should be ashamed of yourself. I have never seen so many lies in one book in my life.

Bad book, childish writing and a bs serpico story,
By GuruJ "GuruJ" (Des Moines, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Hardcover)
I read this book a while back and my wife told me a lady on the housewives show was in it.This book had a few lines about her but was not about her. The book was horrible to read and felt like a 7th grader wrote it. Not just the bad writing but the grandiose stories that read more like a comic book. About 40 pages in I was already calling BS. Now I read the previous reviews about him being a rat & a bag and how so many people call him a liar. I just wanted to say that this book was not worth the time it took to read and if you want to read about the lady on the show you will be sorely disappointed by the book, I'm sure anyone would be.

TAKE IT OUT WITH THE REST OF THE TRASH,
By
This review is from: Cop Without a Badge: The Extraordinary Undercover Life of Kevin Maher (Paperback)
Lucky me! I purchased this book at a local church thrift store for fifty cents.......and I may have overpaid at that. If this book was supposed to be some sort of expose, the only thing it managed to expose was that Kevin Maher is a guy with lousy judgement who tosses decent women under the bus while he "loves" junkies and crack whores. This "confidential informant" is nothing more than a sociopath who used anybody and everybody to get the money that would support his appetite for coke, fast cars, and loose women. This book shows just how far our criminal justice system has fallen when it is forced to pay big bucks to creeps like Kevin in order to apprehend wrong-doers.(Maybe we should turn him loose in Congress). All I can say is that the world is in a sorry state. Whoever it was that said "crime doesn't pay" obviously never met Kevin Maher. My advice is "Stick to The National Inquirer or The Star" for all the latest dirt. Their information is probably more factual than Kevin's fantasy. |
