About the Author

A little about us;

My name is Jim Lambert and I am a Sheriff’s Deputy in Contra Costa County. I am 47 years old and have been working emergency services for 28 years. My current assignment is patrolling the County by Helicopter, and the waterways by boat.

My brother Mark is 45, and is a Motorcycle Officer for a Police Department in East Contra Costa County. Mark has been a Police Officer for almost 15 years. Unlike his single brother, Mark has been married for 22 years and has two beautiful daughters that he is very proud of. Mark adds much of a "family perspective" to CopTalk.

Brent Burzycki is a 29-year old Reserve Deputy at my agency and has been a sworn reserve Officer for 12 years. Brent is heavily involved with rural enforcement operations. Brent is our website designer and manager, and holds the "Technical Brains" behind our project. Without him, Mark and I would be calling each other daily asking – "What do we do now?"

Have you ever been pulled over and just wonder why?

Have you ever wondered why they is not that cop there when you need them?

Do you think you are safe in todays society?

Well Coptalk actually answers those questions - it is written in a style we all can understand... I was worried it was just another book about cops - but I was mistaken - It is all about us the normal everyday citizen and how we should be watching certain things to keep ourselves safe... It is not a daming view on society but rather a book full of checklists of what to look for in different situations to keep us safe..

Thanks for the great title - I am definately telling my friends and family... I will keep this copy as my personal referance copy..

Crime is everywhere and there are not any safe places left. I bought the book because it looked interesting. The information I got from the book was far more than I expected. The book gives examples of how people became the victim of crime and then gives tips on how to avoid making the same mistakes. Some of the mistakes that people made in the book are things that I used to do daily. Although some of the topics are just plain common sense, the book helped me change the way I do some things and to take extra precautions. The book reminds everyone that crime is the result of opportunity. Take away the opportunity and you can avoid becoming a victim of crime. I enjoyed reading the book and will recommend it to my friends and family.
