Copasetik & Cool was featured in Essence magazine in April or May and it received high praise. I decided to take a chance on the group because I am a TRUE MUSIC LOVER. I was not disappointed at dropping $14.31 on this cd. It got heavy rotation in my apartment. Hilary's voice is melodic and the beats are mellow. This is the perfect cd to play while you and your honey are chilling on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Very good CD. I purchased this CD for its version of the song "For the love of you" which was originally released by the Isley Brothers. I discovered some other nice tracks like Pieces, Blue Tears, and Think Again. I wonder why I wasn't aware of this CD's existence, until I researched a song that was played on a jazz radio station.

I bought "Copasetik & Cool" on a whim back in March '04, lured only by the cover photo of Hil St. Soul's beautiful lead singer, Hilary Mwelwa. Little did I know that this impulse purchase would become one of my favorite albums of 2004 (I know - I'm a little late). Equal parts Whitney Houston (the good parts) and India.Arie, Hil St. Soul is a UK R&B band who easily weaves from classic soul to jazz to hip hop without (literally) missing a beat. All songs on "Copasetik & Cool" are well done, especially the standout track "Pieces," an exceptional cover of "For The Love of You," and the title track (which sounds just like Soul II Soul). I can't wait for more from this talented group, and am glad to have learned that, once in a while, you can judge a book by its cover.

hilary mwelwa has the most amazing voice i've heard in some time. this disc is chock full of grooves that are just right and hooks that are wicked enough to stick in my head long after listening and chill enough for that to be a GOOD thing. if you dig neo-soul, or just good songs, snag this record. danceparty or dinner music, it will do you right.

so many cd's these days only have one or two good tracks; on this Hil St. Soul cd EVERY track is worth hearing! And the best songs, like "Pieces" (which reminds me of Heather Headley's "I Wish I Wasn't"), "What's Going Down" (the lyrics of which remind me of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On"), and the great re-make of the Isley's "For The Love Of You", really stick in your head. Hil St.'s singer, Hilary Mwelwa, has a great voice and she just lets her spirit flow. So if you want a cd with a great singer, lyrics worth listening to, and a lot of positive energy, this one's for you.

I saw the video for "Pieces" on VH-1 soul and one listen made me want more. I searched in all the local stores and found it in Borders for $20 so I finally got it on Amazon and it is the best CD that I've bought in a long time. Hil's voice is wonderful and she is always in pitch. The songs are funky yet smooth.
If you don't have this in your collection, shame on you!

Oh my god....this record is beautiful, passionate, energetic, soulful, almost just perfect. If you enjoy true R&B, the kind of R&B that makes you feel sad, mad, happy, regretful, etc...this is for you. This woman has a voice that must be a gift from God. I heard two singles on the radio--For The Love Of You, and Pieces- and thought to myself who is this? The singles don't even do the rest of the record justice. This act will be mentioned in the same breath as Badu, Angie Stone, Maxwell...all the current day legends. The only thing I don't know is whether this is a solo act or a group....Incredible!!

I've been hearing two tracks on the radio from this album, "Pieces" and "For The Love Of You" for weeks now and i had to run out and get this on the first day it was out and after a couple of listens, all i can say is WOW!. This woman knows the real meaning of soul and it comes through on every track. Great lyrics and the best grooves, this one is gonna spin and spin and spin and spin in my cd player for months to come. If you love soul music, or neo soul as some call it then you will love this album.

I liked the cover so I brought the CD on Amazon.

Trust me this Lady can sing with such finesse and elegance.
I can't stop playing it and #s 5,6,9,and 10 are my fav's.

If you like great music and a positive vibe. buy this CD. you won't regret it!

I'm not what one would call an expert on music but, I know what I like. I listen to the radio a lot and I've been hearing one of the songs from this album called, "For the Love of You". I phoned the station (it was the first time I'd ever done that!) and they told me it's a new version of a classic and sung by Hil St. Soul. Well, I couldn't wait to get myself a copy of the whole CD and I think that this woman is terrific and so is this album.

I heartily recommend this new CD. Thank you!
