Hello, and hope you don't mind a lengthy but detailed review. I just got my cup today, 12/24/2009, and am very impressed. As other reviewers have mentioned, this cup is an undiscovered jewel. I was looking to replace my Aladdin travel mug (like this one, but blue) Aladdin 16-Ounce Easy Grip Tumbler, Black because the black rubber sealing gasket was starting to grind into fine powder when tightened (not healthy!), so this is a very welcome change. To be fair, the Aladdin was approximately 2 years old and got heavy daily use.
First, the lid is see-through, which my Aladdin mug had the standard black plastic lid and I never saw what I was drinking (although I knew it was clean because I drink approximately 1 gallon of water I prepare from my private well and take to work with me each day). I didn't think that would matter much, but truthfully, seeing what you are drinking is just more relaxing for some odd reason. Second, if you look closely at the clear, plastic lid, the white portion that meets the body of the cup is actually one huge sealing gasket, so there is no way it should leak at that location if you close it securely. I also don't have to tighten it very tight to get an excellent seal, which will save on wear and tear of the plastic threads. Third, the included straw is very heavy duty and might save me a little money on straws (I only wish it were an inch shorter, but no biggie). If the cup would leak anywhere it might leak where the straw goes into the lid, but the straw fits pretty snugly in the hole as the white you see on the lid is actually like a thick, rubber gasket. Fourth, I still had ice today well into my 5th hour of work. Allow me to explain: I fill my cup with ice and then water from the tap before I head to work so I can have something to drink on the ride - beats soda!!). The ice in the Aladdin was usually gone by the 2nd hour of work. I have to mention that the cup does get pretty cool to the touch, but if you're a hot natured person like me, no big deal. I only mention it because I have not tried it with hot beverages such as coffee or cocoa yet, and it may get a little warm to the touch (which would be great on a cold winter's day!). There was also NO condensation anywhere on this cup (and it had been raining for almost 24 hours here in the South), and the contents were ice cold, so it should not slip from your hand. So to sum up, you need to buy several of these cups, as I'm going to order some more now myself. The price is more than fair, its almost stealing, IMHO. The fine design of these cups is a most welcome change to most products today, I hope they are American designed and made. Final words, when I showed my 74-year-old mother the cup, she fell in love with it; she loves the cool clear top and straw. Needless to say, Mom knows best and she'll be getting one or two herself!! And when I got to work my co-workers were very enamored of it too. For the very low price, you truly can't go wrong.

This cup was purchased for two reasons. The first was to encourage me to drink more water throughout the day and the second was to keep me from spilling.
This cup is now a permanent fixture on my desk at work and gets refilled on average 3-4 times a day. It keeps my water cold for over an hour which is plenty of time for me to drink it down. And I haven't had a spill, which is more than I can say for the months previous to buying this. I have spilled more than one FULL cup of water or coffee across my desk, which isn't so much fun to clean. That alone was worth the cost of the cup! Oh and mine did come with the straw. If you are considering buying this, it does come in several colors AND it is currently on the 4-for-3 promo so find a couple more items and save a few more dollars at check out. This cup is only $7.99 at kmart. That's actually where I got mine because I currently am employed there so that's how I found out about the price difference. You can probably even find it at other retail stores for about the same price.
Anyway, I like this cup. I got it today and one of my co-workers at the register told me "Oh, that's a nifty looking cup" and I couldn't agree more. I love having a straw with my drinks, especially while driving because it makes it far easier to drink this way than it is to deal with a water bottle without a straw that causes a mess if you hit a bump in the road. I originally had this copco cup: http://www.amazon.com/Copco-Sierra-24-Ounce-Tumbler-Brown/dp/B003FZBI7G/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1299464528&sr=8-5 but of course with my luck I accidentally broke it after leaving it on top of my car as I pulled out of the driveway. It cracked when it fell off the roof of my car, so I decided to buy a new cup, also by copco, which just so happens to be this one I'm reviewing. This cup is very sturdy and definitely keeps spills from happening. I love the see through lid it has too. And I also enjoy the fact that I'm not ruining the environment or wasting money on purchasing those plastic water bottles all the time that you use once, then toss in the garbage. It's far better to just go green and re-use. Overall, I love this product and highly recommend it to anyone.
