Amazon.com Review
Depending on the amount of burner heat and how tightly the lid is in place, this 2-1/2-quart whistling teakettle sends out a wistful low note or a full-throated aria to let you know when water is boiling. Because the whistling spout is conveniently built right into the handle, theres no hot stopper to pull out for pouring. A thumb-operated trigger mechanism pulls the spout open, thereby shutting off the whistle, and can lock in the open position for safe pouring. The broad, low shape of the kettle places a greater surface area on the burner, which in turn brings water to a boil more quickly. Gracefully rounded and high off the hot metal, the heat-resistant phenolic handle stays cool, as does the smaller lifting handle on the 18/10 stainless-steel lid. Made of steel coated with an attractive porcelain enamel, the kettle measures 9 by 8 inches.
