5.0 out of 5 stars Love The Harmonic Whistle
I just purchased this whistling teakettle and I love it. When I purchased it I was a little unsure about the whistle and quality of this kettle. Little was said about either in the description. I am happy to report that I have used the kettle numerous times and it has performed great. It has a nice sturdy feel and the stem, handle and whistle stay cool to the touch...

3.0 out of 5 stars Super cute, but the whistle almost never works
I bought this tea kettle because I love strawberries and thought it would be a cute addition to my kitchen. The Good: it's HUGE, so you can boil quite a bit of water in one go, but The Bad: the whistle almost never goes off normally. The real whistle is the sound of a harmonica playing 3 harmonic notes together. I got it to whistle like that once, but most of the time it...

I just purchased this whistling teakettle and I love it. When I purchased it I was a little unsure about the whistle and quality of this kettle. Little was said about either in the description. I am happy to report that I have used the kettle numerous times and it has performed great. It has a nice sturdy feel and the stem, handle and whistle stay cool to the touch. My family and I really enjoy the whistle. It sounds a bit like a harmonica. It starts at one pitch and then another pitch chimes in. It's nice and loud so I can hear it while I'm in the other room. I'm able to easily remove the whistle without getting burned by the steam. I love the wide opening under the stem to add water. The only thing I would possible change about the kettle is the stem. The lid to the kettle seals well and it takes a little tug to get it off. Only time will tell how well the stem will hold up. I was looking at spending between $60-$80 for a Le Creuset teakettle with a lot of personality but noticed that many reviews said the kettles were rusting or had a weak whistle. I took a chance with this one and so far I'm glad I did.

I wanted a unique tea kettle with a whistle that was soothing and would not make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I LOVE the Strawberry teakettle. The enamel is great and is holding up very well... other teakettles have burn marks on the bottom at this point in my teakettle history. The whistle is like a harmonica and very pleasant. And the price is always my main motivation and this one is just right!

This is the best tea kettle I've ever seen and certainly the best I've ever owned. It's even prettier in person than online. It's big, looks great on the stove, got favorable reviews from company at Christmas. And, the whistle is wonderful - very harmonic. It sounds like it could be used to balance the chakras. The original whistle started to peel, so I contacted Copco and they sent me another whistle immediately, which has been fine. I can't praise this kettle enough!

3.0 out of 5 stars Super cute, but the whistle almost never works, November 28, 2010

I got it to whistle like that once, but most of the time it will either not whistle at all or it will produce only one of the harmonic tones (its an annoying sound, to be sure). I have found that the reason is because the lid and the whistle top do not close tightly enough so the steam is escaping. If they fit tighter, you would get the whistle almost every time for sure.

So all in all, it's super cute, but don't buy it if you're expecting it to whistle every time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pot boils...whistle went bye bye!, March 8, 2007

This tea pot is adorable - but the whistle on the stopper stopped whistling after two boils....gotta make sure you don't forget the kettle's on. Otherwise, it's fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rusty inside in less than a year..., January 3, 2010
This review is from: Copco Strawberry 2-1/2-Quart Enamel on Steel Teakettle (Kitchen)
I thought this kettle was so cute, I ordered it and couldn't wait to have it in my kitchen! When it came, I hand washed it and tried it out. Worked great, and I loved the harmonic whistle. I never left water in it, and washed it by hand every so often. The enamel started to chip off, and the steel started to rust. Very disappointed that I cannot use it for human consumption, now it just boils water to put in my steam cleaner until I buy a new one. I'm going for stainless inside this time, no enamel!

I bought this for my sister, because she asked for a whistling tea kettle, and I thought it looked darling. I give it 5 stars for appearance, but it never whistled. If you're near the kitchen, you'll probably know when its boiling from the little rattling sound and the gush of steam, so it's not a total loss. If you're ok without the whistle, it's very cute!

It's too expensive, really, but we got it for the novelty. It does the job. We received one that did not whistle, but the company sent a replacement whistle for no charge and no questions asked. I was glad to see that, but it also made me think that this is not an uncommon problem. Take my advice and get something cheaper.

1.0 out of 5 stars Burnable Plastic Parts, May 12, 2008

I have had this teakettle for about 3 years. I bought it because it was cute. My family drinks a lot of tea, and it's important to have a good kettle. I also wanted a whistle because I usually like to do other things while the water's boiling for my tea.

For the money I spent on this one, I expected to get not only a cute kettle, but one that would stand up to use. I was disappointed. The green parts are all burnable plastic. What a dumb thing to make a teakettle out of!

Of course my whistle is now melted and broken. The handle is partially burned and believe me when it gets heated it smells TERRIBLE. Isn't plastic toxic? Now I know why good teakettles have all metal or enamel parts.

At any rate, this kettle DOES have instructions warning the user not to get the plastic parts too close to heat. But guess what, it's a kettle, and it will be used on a stove. I am apparently not careful enough to keep a kettle away from heat because I destroyed mine.

I also have a gas stove, and I had to be veeery careful to move the handle all way to the right side to avoid inhaling loads of toxic-smelling burning plastic! If you are a person who needs a serious kettle, and does not have time to babysit yours (hey, that's why I got a whistle), then I suggest you skip this one.

It's cute, but I suggest buying a heavier kettle with all enamel and/or metal parts. I am now in the market for a new kettle. Yes, I know I had 3 good years, but a teakettle should last for longer than that!

(no spell check)

I loved this product. It was bigger and cuter then I had originally thought. It took a little while to get here but when it did I was pleasantly surprised. I have a strawberry themed kitchen and it fits perfectly!
Really awesome price also
