Fantastic - especially for the kid,

This review is from: Coping for Capable Kids: Strategies for Parents, Teachers, and Students (Paperback)
This book is really 2 books - one for adults and one for kids. The adult side is interesting, but is a little short on what to do. The kid side, on the other hand, is wonderful! It really describes, in kids' words, what these kids feel and what sort of steps to take or things to think about. My "capable" children are 12 and 9, but I would like even the 9-year-old to read this book.

There is lots of good information in this book. The kids side is a much easier read. My 11 year old son keeps picking up the book and thumbing through it and I get good stuff out of the kids side, too.The adult side is very text-book. The writing style is awkward and hard to follow. However, if you stick with it past the first 100 pages, you can begin to find information that is applicable. Most of the first bit is background and theory. I am purchasing a sceond copy of this book as a year-end thankyou for our G&T program coordinator. |
