Coping with Chaos - a real-world guide,
By robbjacobs@gobi.com (Stillwater, Minnesota - USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coping with Chaos: Seven Simple Tools (Paperback)
In "Coping with Chaos - Seven Simple Tools" Ms. Eoyang first defines how the elements of chaos are revelant in today's corporate world, then gives us the tools to identify and deal with them. Through the use of everyday examples she is able to make a complex theory easily understood by the lay person. I especially liked her use of charts and the lists of key phrases as aids to identifying the characteristics of complex, adaptive systems. Once we have identified a specific characteristic, we are better able to control it. The book is practical, easy to read and helped me understand some of the weird things that are happening in the world today. I would recommend that anyone trying to understand the corporate world, politics, or mass media read the book.

This review is from: Coping with Chaos: Seven Simple Tools (Paperback)
Dr. Eoyang's insights on Chaos and Complexity are brought to light with such a wonderful flow that makes it easy to understand to the lay person. Other books I've read about Complexity and Chaos have been a hard read- Dr. Eoyang has a unique gift of teaching "the complex" in a simple way. There were many ah-ha! moments reading this book. Suddenly when I hear the word "complexity" and "chaos" in my business, I smile. I know how to deal with it now. |
