Coping with Lyme Disease is both realistic and informative,
This review is from: Coping with Lyme Disease, Second Edition: A Practical Guide to Dealing with Diagnosis and Treatment (Paperback)
As an eleven year suffer of Chronic Lyme Disease I found Coping with Lyme Disease to be an accurate, reliable, informative source of both the Disease itself and the politics involved with Lyme Disease. It is a must read for any person who has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease or who suspects they have it and can't find a Doctor to treat it. I have bought many copies of this book and share it with both other Lyme victims and Physicians within my community that are not knowledgeable about this devistating illness and the politics that surround it. Denise Lang did a wonderful job in both editions of this book!

...if you have been wondering if you have Lyme or have just been diagnosed. This book has been informative and a great resource. However, be prepared for a slightly depressing turn through the symptoms chapter. I had a tough time with this one, since it was me, all the way. I would highly recommend it as tool for working with your MD and as a handy reference guide.

After being diagnosed will Lyme Disease I was given this book to read and found it angered as well as enlightened me on such topics as: how the medical community is treating patients with Lyme Disease, the different stages of Lyme Disease and how to cope with having Lyme Disease. This book opens with a little bit of the history (when they first saw a case of Lyme, speculations on how it was spread and what the govenment doesn't want you to know). Then it proceeds to help you understand more about your conditions, how to approach doctors, and when it's time to get a NEW DOCTOR. This book offers very useful informations on different support groups and different articles to read. Overall, it has helped by showing me that there are people who do care, and that you are not alone.

I've had Lyme Disease for many years and only recently was diagnosed. This was like reading a biography. I find this book very helpful and refer to it often to be sure "I'm not crazy-it's just Lyme". I've had trouble finding information for the layperson that addressed my concerns and this is the best I've found so far. I recommend this to patients and caregivers. I even bought another copy for my doctor.

Coping with Lyme Disease, Third Edition by Denise Lang,
This review is from: Coping with Lyme Disease: A Practical Guide to Dealing with Diagnosis and Treatment (Paperback)
I think this book was very well thought out. It has so much information packed in the pages that I am reading it a second time. The glossary would be great for a new lymie researcher. It explores all aspects including diagnosis, testing, political views, insurance problem and so much more. The Support Groups, Organizations and Lyme Newsletter information is a bit out of date. But since "Education Is Your Best Defense" you will be able to track down almost anything that you may need.

A Must Buy,
This review is from: Coping with Lyme Disease: A Practical Guide to Dealing with Diagnosis and Treatment (Paperback)
Packed with useful information on Lyme disease in general but especially useful in helping the reader to recognize symptoms that one might not initially think of as being Lyme related (various physical, cognitive, behavioral and emotional symptoms). Denise Lang breaks those symptoms down by age (young children, adolescents, adults, elderly). Great book to keep as a reference. Easy to read - good for a lay person, general practitioner or mental health professional.

I would give this book a 5 if it had information for men. I agree with an earlier reviewer about that point. But the book is very informative and the best book out there for individuals with Lyme. I wish I had read it sooner.

A must have for those suffering from Lymes! Everything you need to know about the disease and it allowed me to understand the symptoms and how to deal with them. Easy to understand and very useful for family members to understand what us "lymies" are going through. I have read and referred to it several times for help to explain to others about the disease.

Great, great, great, great book! I had Lyme Disease in 1990 and I cannot believe how far it has come. I am amazed at how controversial the treatment is for this disease nowadays. This book has SO MUCH information that you don't know about that is extremely helpful. Anyone who suspects that they may have Lyme Disease or has had it, should definitely read this book!

I was so pleased with this book on Lyme disease. The author apparently researched carefully, had a wealth of information on this topic and wrote a very comprehensive book on the illness. I would highly recommend reading this book, it totally exceeded any expectations I had and I find myself rereading certain parts of the book. There are so many diseases that are similar to Lyme disease that its easy to gleen information about other chronic illnesses from her book. Also, the author gives all kinds of resources to find out more information on such issues as where to find doctor referrals, etc. Just a great book on a very important and timely subject.
