Roof Rats entered my house via the doggie door and were well rewarded with 40 pounds of dog food. Even though I closed the doggie door, they still got in and it took my exterminator weeks to find out where. Turns out they had gone up underneath the siding, chewed through the Tyvec and sheathing and eaten their way in to the house. I ordered this stuff and stuffed the hole with it. A week later, I saw 3 of them in the house so I called another exterminator that dealt exclusively with rodents. He immediately went right to that same hole. I told him, (with attitude) that rats couldn't chew through this stuff. He showed me all the little pieces of copper they had chewed through. He fixed it with 1/4 in galavanized hardware cloth and haven't seen one since.

I realize I had determined rodents because they kept getting rewarded when they chewed their way in. This stuff would probably work great as a preventative measure but not once they have made entry. From what I have read, rats can chew through concrete.

Bottom line: as a preventative measure, A+. Once they have been in and know there is food, this is nothing more than a little extra chewing.

I purchased it because I noticed out pest guy didn't mesh up all the weep holes on our brick house. Arrived very fast and works great for that! (no more scorpions in the house --- you probably didn't hear it but I just knocked on wood)

After identifying the holes through which mice where entering my apartment, I filled them with this thing and secured it with tape. It's been 6 months and the mice haven't been able to come in again.

This stuff is great for filling weepholes to keep annoying pests and vermin out of your brick walls. Note that when cutting you'll get a lot of copper threads all over the place, so I recommend doing this outdoors. It folds up nicely like a copper sponge which you can then insert into your weepholes. Be sure not to use too much as this will affect airflow (which the weepholes are meant for), but just use enough so that it stays in there well and check it every month or so to make sure the pests haven't been able to push it out (or in I suppose).

This did not work for the small roof rats I'm dealing with. I installed it over several openings where roof rats were getting in and they ate right through it, so waste of time and money for me. Roof (tree) rats aren't that big so it's not like a monster rat I'm dealing with here. The copper mesh was no match for their teeth, though. These guys also eat through very hard plastic with no problem so this was nothing for them.

Our backyard is butted up right next to a corn/soybean field so mice have been a problem ever since we moved in. After stuffing this mesh into some huge gaps underneath our bottom siding and around A/C entrance we've seen no more mice at least in the house; outdoor shed and garage is another feat to tackle. Anyway, I do periodic checks to be sure they haven't been trying to pull the mesh out. It's been 3 months and all looks good. Keeping fingers crossed!
