This review is from: Copper Tumbler India Drinkware Glasses Set of 2
I bought a pair of these tumblers for my boyfriend after he fell in love with them at our favorite Indian restaurant. The restaurant was selling them for $40 a piece, and I got them here for $40 for the pair. He uses them for cold beer, and couldn't be happier! They arrived quickly and the customer service I received was fantastic. I would recommend both the product and the company.

Every once in a while, when you buy something, and hold it in your hand, you know you have purchaeed something very special. This is especially a treat when you buy something from an online store -- becaue, despite any pictures, you really can't be 100% sure of what it's like, as you can't actually see or handle it in reality before buying. Online buying IS very convenient...but, unless you have seen and/or purchaed and/or used an item before=hand, you can never be 100% certain of what you are purchasing.

Well, I saw the picture of this pair of COPPER TUMBER INDIA DRINKWARE GLASSES SET OF 2, on Amazon, read the description....and just about fell in love with them. The country of India has always had a special mystery for me -- maharajas and maharanis who were able to keep their titles, even during the British colonial period, (and even now, afterwards!), a crowded, poor country, yet --but SO fiercely proud of itself and its culture. A country where the majority of people practice Hinduism -- a religion with many, many gods, which yet believes in goodness and kindness and fairness, as much as the One-God religions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. A land of beautiful architecture and incredible countryside. And SO much more! I guess I've been sort of "hooked" on India and its culture, since I saw the adventures of "Gunga, the Elephant Boy", starring Sabu, a as little girl. Learning, later, that actress Merle Oberon was, in fact, NOT desended from fairies, (as I had always believed), but was, actually, Indian, hersself, only added to this facination. (As did the much later learning that India is not only full of handome men and beautiful women -- but that many of these good-looking folks are also highly intelligent....many of them work as tech-help for various computer companies!)

And these particular cups themselves....the photo just about took my breath away. I knew it was only a representative picture...but the intricate hamnmering, (in real copper!), on the outside, and the stainless steel lining the cup, seemed like very high-quality materials to me. The description says that these layer keep hot liquid inside hotter, longer. That makes sense to me. And IF liquid is kept hotter longer.....might it not change the composition of the liquid inside, making it healthier? After all, boiling water for a long period of time changes the direction of the electrons in each water molecule. This HAS been demontrated to make water healthier, as is mentioned on the Energels website...and many others. I have seen this water described as "holy water without the religion". Of course, merely keeping a liquid warmer, longer, is not like boiling it or placing it on or in one of the specialized appliances, filled with this special water, that's supposed to change the direction of the electrons of ANY foodstuff healthier -- but it certainly should make a LITTLE difference, because it DOES keep liquids a BIT warmer for a BIT longer....and this couldn't hurt! These tumblers ALSO tend to keep COLD liquids COLDER for a logner time....

These cups are HEAVY for their size. I remembered -- while drinking some Carnation Instant Breakfast Essentials, Dark Chcolate flavour from them -- that there is actually a cookware set on the market today that is of stainless steel completely covered on the outside with copper, (not just copper bottoms). It too, is very heavy, and it is VERY expensive. Keeping heat, (or cold), in, is obviously a culinary virtue!

The stainless steel used in these tumblers seems of a higher quality than my other stainless steel impliments. At least, the colour is just a bit different. Less grey, more very, very slightly more golden than other stainless steel tumblers. At the VERY top, and VERY bottom, there is a mirror-like finish. In between is the matte-like finish that appears in mot stainless steel tumblers.

( A SUGGESTION:....I wonder -- in passing -- if this BEAUTIFUL, GOLDEN-TINTED STAINLESS-STEEL, which lines these cups, could also be made into CUTLERY....forks, knives, and spoons? It certainly would be different than all other stainless steel produced today....with a "golden glow", (a NAME for such stainless-steel cutlery?)....it would be a true "stand-out" in the stainless-steel cutlery market! : )

The hammered outide is mesermising. The pebbled reflection in it will not show the room you are in exactly -- but the copper reflection will lend a seeming candle-lit atmosphere to everything you see in the pebble-design distorted reflection. Turn the empty tumbler slowly, and a watery-like, ever-changing modern-art mobile will greet your eyes, a the hammered-pebble design ever changes in your hand. This is definitely a piece of art-work, a well a a tumbler!

The drinking lip is smooth. But remember, since the outide IS real copper, handling it too much can actually make the hands greyish -- as they do when you handle too many pennies! I haven't had mine long -- but I suspect if you don't care for this cup as you would other fine copper impliments, it, too, will tart to tarnish, a do once-shiny copper pennies!

It is suggested that one use these tumblers for festivals only....probably because of thecare involved. But if you invest time in the upkeep of these tumblers, and learn, (as I am going to learn), how to care for copper and keep it bright, I see no reaon to use them more freequently.

Yes, the heat, (or cold), will eventually leave these tumblers. However, if you put a cover, (with a LARGE handle) on them, the heat inside will keep even longer!
And who knows what THAT may do to improve your drink and mood? : )
