5.0 out of 5 stars As fascinating as it is concerning, February 15, 2010

This review is from: Cops, Crooks and Politicians (Paperback)
What begins as an armed bank robbery in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle twists and turns into a no holds barred window into 1950's policing in both Seattle and British Columbia. What the book brings into the light of day is truly fascinating and eye opening into how policing has evolved as well as the stroy and long shadows cast by this particular robbery. The "good old days" had many things that were not so good and the level of collusion between local politicians, corrupted individual officers, and criminals is actually frightening. Stories of alcoholics in the department assigned to the evidence room helping themselves to items and payoffs of judges by criminals with the resources illustrate how far we've come since then and the value of all the rules that have evolved and the efforts of outstanding officers to be treated rightfully by city councils with significant struggles well into the seventies. Should be read by community members, officers, and politicians.
