Tony M. Kail has observed actual ceremonies and rites of passage of occult groups and has conducted interviews with members and clergy of these religions. A former deputy and animal cruelty investigator, he has provided training for several regional, state and federal agencies, including the FBI. Kail serves as adjunct instructor for the Police Sciences Division of Nashville State Technical College.

There are numerous reports that can debunk most, if not all, of the ideas presented in this book. A far better (free) report on this type of thing is "The Lanning Report", by Kenneth Lanning, an FBI Agent who used to work specifically with ritual abuse cases. Google for it & check it out; I promise you'll be glad that you didn't waste your money on this piece of junk.

Having been born into a law enforcement family - and having been a part of the magical community for over thirty years - all I can say is, "Hooray for Tony Kail!" This book makes huge strides in clearing up many of the misunderstandings between law enforcement and those who embrace alternative religious paths. Had it been around when I first discovered Wicca, many of the problems we encountered wouldn't have been problems at all.

All I can hope is that this book becomes standard issue for every patrol car in this country - and a staple in the library of anyone even remotely considering an alternative spirituality.

Having read some of the other negative reviews of this book I can only say "Did you read the same book I did?" I found this book to be informative and having done my homework, correct. The purpose of this book is to inform police officers about the different aspects, tools and practices of alternative religions, and it does that. It does not condemn or glorify those differences, only presents the facts.
