Good overview of Copyright Law,

This review is from: The Copyright Guide: A Friendly Handbook for Protecting and Profiting from Copyrights (Paperback)
This is the second time I read The Copyright Guide and felt it was a smartly written, concise guide into understanding Copyright Law. Many visual artists, musicians, actors and people who work in the creative field have a hard time understanding Copyright Law but this book does a pretty good of breaking things down in an easy to understand format. Although not the most exciting book this is essential reading for anyone who wants to make money in the creative field and exploit their creation and make as much money as they possibly can off of their work.Wilson covers everything there is to know about Copyrights: Copyright Duration, the Public Domain, Registration, Infringement, Non-exclusive and Exclusive Licenses, the differences between Copyright, Trademark and Patent, Lawsuits over Infringements, Work for Hire Agreements, Caching, Linking, Framing and The Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Wilson also does a good job of discussing work for hire agreements and why freelancers are critical of it. In a work for hire, the person doing the hiring has all the rights, the artist does not even have the right to credit for his own work! A "Poor Man's" Copyright was a decent explanation but could have been better. The Guide also features helpful appendices such as examples of Form Permission Request Letter, Form Nonexclusive License of Copyright, Work-For-Hire Agreements, and many more! If you work in the creative field, read this book.

I had used the book at the library and found that I needed a permanent copy of my own. Just what I needed.
