Indian history with a spoonful of sugar,

This review is from: To the Coral Strand (Paperback)
John Masters is a treasure for Western readers who want to know about Indian (east) history. His series takes you through the British raj from start to finish with a whole lot of embedded geography, history, religion, culture and love. He loves India and it shows - very respectful and appreciative in description and characterizations - except for those he does not approve of strongly, in this case L. P. Roy. It makes you want to get out a nonfiction history of India and check up on the actual historical circumstances, just what you'd want to do if you cared about India. In all, an excellent starting point for a study of India.
