The game follows the story of the book, and presumably the movie (not released as of this writing), fairly closely. In fact, it's mostly a storybook of the film where you're the one moving Coraline around. The minigames found in the game are few and far between and of the most simple concept. Most of the interaction with the game beyond walking is superficial, i.e., drop a stone to see how deep a well is or move chicken legs to your plate. The one somewhat interesting aspect is collecting various outfits for Coraline to wear, but that's scrapping the barrel for finding something positive. $30 for a game that won't last two days is too expensive. Only recommended to fans of the film who want to relive it before the DVD comes out but can't be bothered to read the (highly recommended) novel by Neil Gaiman.

I was aware of the other reviews that I have read regarding this game. But being a fan and curious at that, it didn't seem that bad when I viewed the media snippet that I clicked on during my search here in Amazon.

If you are an avid hard core gamer, then yes, you will be disappointed. But if you are in for just the fun of it, then you will like it.

I rated it 4 stars because for something that is so simple in concept, I thought it was expensive.

THIS GAME WAS A GIFT FOR A 10 YEAR OLD WHO LOVES CORALINE. SHE SAID THE GAME WAS TOO HARD TO GET TO THE OTHER LEVELS, EVEN THOUGH SHE TRIES AND TRIES TO GET PAST A CERTAIN PART OF THE GAME. SHE LOVES ANYTHING CORALINE. THE GAME IS A LITTLE TOO HARD FOR YOUNG KIDS, EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THEM THINK THEY CAN BEAT IT, BUT HONESTLY, THEY PROBABLY WON'T BE ABLE TO IF THEY'RE UNDER 12. GOOD LUCK. GAME WAS IN GREAT CONDITION AND WAS SHIPPED PROMPTLY.

One review said this game is the storybook of the movie - they are right. Probably the best feature about this game is the clothing customization for Coraline. Other than that, the game is somewhat lacking, too simple in its gameplay. Anyone who has seen the movie will know what to do in order to advance the storyline. Much more could have been done with this title. Collecting and trying on different outfits is fun. The game is VERY formulaic, and not much different than the AWESOME movie of the same name. If you have not seen the film, I guess you might find this more fun to play. I also have the PS2 version and will review that once I have time to play it.

not having any children, it would be easy for me to predict children between the ages of 5 and 12 would enjoy this game. sadly, i purchased this game for my own entertainment, and found myself quite disappointed. while the graphics were fun and (initially) promising, the game moved way too slowly for my taste. coraline moved so slowly, i was gritting my teeth as i waited for her to accomplish her tasks. the video directly correlated with the movie, which wouldn't have been too bad, except that meant an overabundance of cut scenes. many, many cut scenes. even the minigames were entirely too basic-- looking for the ingredients to the pancakes? no worries- every ingredient will be highlighted with a yellow *stop* sign. too easy, too slow, too exasperating.

Me and my family love Coraline. So I think this is a great game for my kids. We got it in the mail pretty fast.

I didn't find this game at all interesting. Actually, after 15 minutes of walking around in the game, I knew it would be going back to the store for a trade-in as soon as possible. I was rather disappointed because I wanted to like it.

I completed this game in 2 days. It was boring and not worth $30.00.

I had to buy 2 because the girl were fighting over it. They are 9 and 5 years old
