accurate historical accounting of the people, times & car.,

This review is from: Cord 810/812: The Timeless Classic (Hardcover)
This book is highly recommended for a totally insightful view of the times and situation(s) that led to the creation of what was a futuristic all-out artistic object that occurred because of the right things being in the right place at the right time. The fact that the subject matter just happens to be an automobile is secondary to the author's placement of people and events which conspired to let these events occur in the first place, yielding a beautiful work of U.S. industrial art.

Wonderful history of these fascinating and beautiful autos. I'd always heard anecdotes of how the Cord was a lovely but mechanically troubled car and this history provides all the details you could ask for. The author must have spent years assembling notes and details to make this book such a comprehensive masterpiece. If you want to know the Cord 810 & 812 story look no further!

Anytime someone makes a list of the most beautiful automobiles the Cord 810-812 is on the list, often as one of the few American cars.
Malk's book tell you everything you need to know about the car rangfing from its quick development and hurried production and how it acquired its timeless shape. A long time cord owner/restorer/driver, he doesn't let his love for the marque cloud his vision, he details the many techinical gremlins the cars had...both as a result of their groundbreaking front wheel drive and the development that was hurried and done "on the cheap" in an attemptto get the car to market to help prop up the ailing Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg empire. From its inception as a "Baby Duesenberg", to color and interior fabric details, models and movies the car appeared in, the book has it all. The color photos are nice and the book is very well produced. If you want to know about a timeless classic, this book is for you. |
