Product Description

Amazon.com

AT&T’s 1855 Speakerphone with Digital Answering System and Caller ID is designed for the customer who needs a basic corded phone with enhanced features. The three-line LCD allows you to view the name, number, time and date of incoming calls at a glance, even those on Call Waiting. Caller ID stores the name, number, time and date of up to 50 incoming calls, whether or not the phone is answered. Numbers stored in Caller ID history can be dialed directly. The speakerphone frees your hands for more important tasks, and the one-touch redial button provides you with a convenient way to quickly call someone back after you’ve hung up.

A digital answering system is built into the telephone, reducing clutter on your desktop. Because operation is fully digital, messages are stored without the use of tapes or other moving parts that can wear out. Access your messages when you are away from home with the remote functions at your disposal from any touch-tone phone.

The Volume control lets you customize the proper audio levels, and the Mute button gives you instant privacy when someone’s on the line. The phone is wall mountable to help save space.

3.0 out of 5 stars They left out some important features., September 7, 2006

I like this phone okay, but the most annoying thing is there's no backlight for the LCD display. It's annoying to look at the LCD display to try to see who's calling but you can't unless the ambient light level around this phone is high enough. None of the buttons are backlit either, so forget about using this phone in the dark. Lastly, there's no hold feature to this phone.

On the plus side, though, it does seem pretty solidly built and is fairly compact so it doesn't take up much desk space.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Phone. Simple. Lots of Options., October 6, 2006

I purchased this phone for Caller ID and a digital answering machine. It has lots of other features too. I paid $20 for it. Overall, it's a slick, simple phone. Great looking and easy to use.

My favorite feature is it's Caller ID Announce. When activated and a call comes in, a voice announces the number calling. I also like default outgoing message "Please leave a message" in a computer voice. The ringer options are only OK. Most of them are a little high pitched and annoying. Also, the cord to the handset was super short. I immediately purchased a longer cord. This phone has many bells and whistles, but they are all easy to set-up and change with the touch of a button.

Bought this for a small professional office. The voice quality on playback from remote is poor. It is relatively okay but not nearly up to old AT&T standards. It is also difficult to get the machine to respond remotely to the touch tone signal code both on land line and cell phones. Disappointing.
