Good Introduction to Andean Music,
By Dawn Wells (Racine, Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cordilleras (Audio CD)
A couple of years ago I became mesmerized with Andean music when I first heard the classic El Condor Pasa. From there on I was determined to obtain a collection of good Andean music. While I think the style of Sacred Valley is good, the depth and variety does not match that of other pan flute artists such as Joel Francisco Perri, Pablo Carcamo and the group called Inkuyo. Their musical pieces and arrangements are rich and diverse. For a most beautiful Andean music album, I advise you to try: Magic of the Paraguayan Harp and Indian Flutes by artists Pablo Carcamo and Oscar Benito put out by the Musical Heritage Society (Classical Music. Believe me I know good music when I hear it! Once you try it, you'll know what I mean!

Quality Music,

Cordilleras is a great CD. I think I was able to hear Sacred Valley from a friend so I bought another CD. The blend of pipes and strings are amazing. There is something that seems different in this CD than from Sacred Valley. I think it seems like this CD has more of a modernized sound which still retains all the culture in every melody. It's a great CD and recommend it to anyone that want to expand their horizons in music.

What can I say about them but what an excellent group of individuals. I met these guys at a Farmers Market in Malibu in 1997. They were playing this music and I was mesmerized. I was working at a Pot sticker stand about 3 spots down. I was listening all day. It was around my birthday and they ended up giving me a copy of this CD. I would recommend this a hundred times over. You will enjoy it.

I have only listened to a very little amount off Incan music, but I belive that if I were to listen to all of the Incan cds in the world, I would still pick this one. Its soothing melodys bring back memories of mountians I havn't seen, it makes you feel like your floating on a breeze. being 13, I have much to see yet, but this is one of the most beautiful cds I have ever heard.
