Why the 20TM-CE?

The best-selling 20TM-CE is a lightweight, stage-ready ukulele. Whether you're a ukulele enthusiast or simply expanding your musical horizons, the 20TM-CE is a versatile instrument. With its sweet, rich sound, this tenor ukulele is fit to accompany both beginners and the gigging musician alike.

Traditional Craftsmanship

Modeled after traditional Portuguese ukuleles, Cordoba ukuleles are handmade in a variety of sizes. Most Cordoba ukuleles are built with solid tops, which vibrate and resonate more freely than those with laminate tops. Aesthetic touches like the traditional wood pattern rosette paired with the satin finish make this a truly beautiful instrument. A Cordoba deluxe gig bag is optional.

More about Cordoba's 20 Series

Completely handmade in soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone sizes, all ukuleles in the 20 series feature solid mahogany tops with mahogany back and sides. Lightweight yet stable, mahogany gives a warm, even tone that's very balanced from lows to highs. The 20TM-CE is currently the only acoustic-electric ukulele in Cordoba's 20 series, which can be identified by the herringbone pattern rosette inlaid on each model. These lightweight ukuleles have a sweet, rich sound and comfortable playing action.

I wanted a uke look and a uke plugged in sound. Ran across the Córdoba 20TM-CEsolid mahog tenor cutaway with active preamp/eq.
Made in Portugal

I like it a lot.

Feel: smooth matte finish
Action: good out of box - right nut height
Sound: VERY pleased that it has a sound akin to a soprano, not the ringing guitarry sound some tenors have.
Plugged in: roll back the treb, sounds like a uke. I always dislike the percussive "click" sound some UST pickups make. If you keep the treb and brilliance right, this one does not have that irritation.
Workmanship: Body finish, neck, all smooth and precise. Rosewood bridge a little on the grainy side finish-wise. A few mill marks on rosewood fretboard. No big deal on these. Interior wiring neat. No glue blotches. I like the classical guitar style tie on bridge.
Tuners: geared, white buttons kind of blah, tunes OK. Just OK, not super.
Wood: All solid. They say mahogany. It has a stripey appearance - maybe sapelle.
Smell: Glue and, dare I hazard a guess - I think I smell sapele, not mahogany.
Appearance: It has a humble ukey look - What I thought was a decal rosette (similer to Martin 15 series guitar rosette decal) turns out to be an actual inlaid rosette - nice. Pearloid fretboard markers are subtle, not flashy. Humble is good.
Intonation: Good. 12th fret harmonics seem right, with slight difference on the C string - pretty common.
Playability: Just great, as is from the box.
Strings: Came with Aquilla high G, no wound. I think some distributers may have it with wound C and darker strings. I like it as is.

Overall: This ukulele does what I wanted it for: A good plugged in sound and good acoustic sound that sounds more like a soprano than a typical tenor.

My new Cordoba 20TM-CE isn't fancy but it is a well-made, nice-sounding instrument at a great price. The quality of the craftsmanship wasn't compromised to achieve price. The solid African mahogany is a very good tone wood. There are much more expensive woods that could have been used, but African mahogany while less expensive is being used in many well-respected guitars. The missing expensive things like bindings would only have been for looks anyway. I like the tone which is a bit brighter than my Pono solid Ohai tenor ukulele. It came with Aquila strings which are a real favorite of today's ukulele players. I replaced the G string with an an Aquila low G string. It sounds really nice both acoustically and when plugged in. The solid African mahogany is finished beautifully and has nice grain. The fretboard is set up very well and all fret positions play cleanly (not bad for an inexpensive cutaway.) I've listened to a bunch of tenor ukuleles in this price range and this ukulele sounds and plays as well as the best, plus you get a very adequate pickup without blowing your budget.

This is a very high quality instrument! I bought this ukulele to take to my pottery studio as I have a custom built ukulele on order. I've not received the custom build ukulele as of yet but I find it hard to believe the quality could be much better than my Cordoba. Since receiving this ukulele I've written to thank Hawaii Music Supply where I purchase my uke, and Cordoba. Cordoba replied to my email the same day. While other company seem to be trying to give less for the money you spend Cordoba seem to be giving more. the TM -CE came with a padded gig bag that is just fantastic. The gig bag is easily a $30 to $40 value. Not sure if the humidifier that I got with my order is from Cordoba or Hawaii Music Supply but it is nice to have that little extra when you make a purchase. I payed $199 plus $19 shipping from Hawaii and with that I got a set up and a real person looking at the product making sure it was good to go. Keep in mind a set up at the local shop is $50. In my mind that is a $30 savings and a lot of peace of mind. They say you get what you pay for in this case I feel I got more than I payed for. I can't find a single flaw with the construction. This ukulele sounds amazing!!! the ukulele has great sustain, it just keeps going and going. The neck feels superb, frets are dressed and the action is just right. This is may 4th uke, 2nd from Hawaii Music Supply and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I'm pleased with this uke. It has a clear and bright tone. I was happy to be able to purchase an electric uke made somewhere other than China. [EDITED: I was incorrect in this information - this uke IS, indeed, made in China.] I did have my local luthier put a low G on it, and he felt the saddle should be replaced. It holds tuning very well and stands up to rigorous practice and gig use. Sounds very nice amplified. Pretty wood with lovely satin finish. It will be my instrument of choice when playing with the Ukulele Klub of Eau Claire (WI).

I needed a ukulele that would sound decent enough to use for children's concerts. I got this one and man, it's outstanding. I took some time tuning it carefully and played a song that demanded chords all over the neck! It plays and sounds like a dream! I've played about 20 ukuleles, many much more costly, but the action and feel on this is perfect for a guy who spends 15 to 20 hours per week behind stringed instruments. Kids are an unforgiving audience, they notice everything, so I always use equipment that delivers as close to perfect as possible! Cordoba... welcome to my world!
