Don Freeman (1908-1978) was the author/illustrator of many popular books for children, including Corduroy, A Pocket for Corduroy, and the Caldecott Honor Book Fly High, Fly Low.
Lisa McCue has created the artwork for all of Viking’s Corduroy board and lift-the-flap books. She lives in Annapolis, Maryland.

Great for young children,

As with all of the Corduroy Lift the Flap books (Easter, Christmas, Beach, Halloween, Firehouse, Zoo, Birthday--no longer in print, and Library), this one rates 5 stars......and we own them all! These rate as our absolute favorites in our book collection. The text is not lengthy and the flaps keep my two 1/2 year olds hands busy enough for me to read the text before he is on to the next page. For this reason, they were the only books we read for a long time. The illustrations are fantastic! The story takes you on the course of Corduroy's day-- packing for the beech, finding a spot in the sand, taking a swim, flying a kite, getting ice cream and going on rides on the boardwalk, and looking for treasures in the sand. Enjoy!

My son who is almost 2 - loves this book - we started reading it to him when he was about 1.5 before a trip to the beach. Since then - we have read it almost twice a day since. He loves the lift flaps - it is just simple and yet complex enough to keep his attention. He now asks for it by saying Beach.... I highly recommend this series we also have Corduroy goes to the Library, but goes to the beach is definitely a favorite. Downside is that he wants to go to the beach all the time... if that is a downside ;)

Lovely colorful full pages.. entertaining story line for little ones
curious little minds love lifting flaps on every page to fine what is hidden underneath was glad to find Corduroy Bear again and will be ordering more from Amazon book came nicely and securely packaged all the way to Australia Thank You
