Peds ER Book,

This review is from: Core Curriculum for Pediatric Emergency Nursing (Paperback)
I bought this book to help me prepare for the CPEN exam. I work in a Pediatric ER, and am an ENPC instructor. found it informative, but I felt it was dated with only 3 levels of triage. I started my studies with CPEN Review by Scott DeBoer, which made studying fun. I then bought this book, but after reading it through felt I needed more technical info. So I bought Mosby's Comprehensive Pediatric Emergency Care. The Mosby book was incredible, up to date, and put all the content into place. I did pass the exam last week!

Core, good for Educators.,
This review is from: Core Curriculum for Pediatric Emergency Nursing (Paperback)
While the Peds Core Cirruculum is good for educators it shares the same fatal flaw with the Adult Core. It is tedious and boring. I did not find is usefull for studing for Certification Exams nor in improving my bedside care. It was a useful tool for research and reference for developing educational marterials and policy and procedure. I have over 15 years experience in ED and am an ACLS instuctor, CEN and CCRN.

I work as an educator in an emergency department and have found this book to be useful in both research and teaching time and time again. I also used this book as a study guide when preparing for the CPEN, and found it VERY useful. Caution however, if you have limited experience in emergency nursing, especially pediatric emergency nursing, then you may want to purchase a book that is not written in outline format. However, if you have experience and are looking for a great book to refresh some of your knowledge, this is it.
