Many programming books are either (1) very good for someone learning the language for the first time (the student) but are not good references for people who already know the language or (2) are good references but poor for students. "C# Core Language: Little Black Book" is excellent for both -- both as a reference for people experienced in OO programming and as a text book for people learning C# for the first time. Furthermore, at < 500 pages it is not a tome!
