Project Designer is a delight to use. A standard left pane is used to display information about the current tool or item or effect while he project itself remains center screen. There are thousands of pre-built templates to choose from and customizing, adding more graphics, photos and text are all straightforward. A very nice tabbed interface on the main screen toggles from page to page in a project, for example from the front page to the inside to the back page of an invitation. The program is straightforward, easy-to-use and very fast, but could use a wider range of selections from the pre-existing templates.
Photo House, on the other hand, while very solid and capable at what it does, lacks some of the basic ease of use combined with the range of features and power available in Adobe PhotoDeluxe or MGI PhotoSuite. It does, however, let you import Adobe effects for use within Photo House. The basic interface is very similar to that of Project Designer, with a bar on the left giving details about effects. But the overall impression of PhotoHouse is that it doesn't measure up to the two top programs in this area.
If you are already a heavy user of other Corel graphics tools, you might want to try Photo House a try just to take advantage of using an interface similar to one you already know and because the $59.95 price is so reasonable. Otherwise, we'd recommend MGI's PhotoSuite III or Adobe's PhotoDeluxe.
