Good Program, But...,
By
This review is from: Corel DE10ENG0 Designer 10 Full (CD-ROM)
As a regular user of CorelDraw and AutoCAD LT, I was intrigued by Corel Designer, so I downloaded a trial version off of the Corel web site. After trying out the program, I came to the very quick conclusion that Designer should only be purchased under certain circumstances. And at the risk of sounding obvious, Designer is nothing more than CorelDraw with a limited number of AutoCAD type enhancements. With that being said...PROS: For someome who doesn't own Draw or AutoCAD, it's a very nice cross between the two. It's comprehensive, easy to use, and accurate. It's perfect for individuals or businesses who need technical graphics without the high costs of owning both Draw and AutoCAD LT. From this standpoint, you can save a sizeable chunk of change by buying Designer; especially when one considers the cost of AutoCAD LT & the full-blown AutoCAD. CONS: Owners of CorelDraw can pretty much do the same things in Draw that can be done in Designer; with only a slight bit more work. Designer carries a far too hefty price tag based on that. BOTTOM LINE: If I were starting from scratch in regards to technical graphics or desktop publishing, and wanted AutoCAD type accuracy thrown into the mix, then Designer would be a very good place to start.
