It's somewhat of a paradox to me that the key features of WinZip 18 are its ability to connect to a variety of cloud-based storage options such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Cloud, or SugarSync to name a few. As cloud-based storage prices continue to drop, the need to compress large files seems less urgent.
Still, less is more, I suppose, so compressing and moving all the media files we all tend to accumulate not to mention work-based documents and data, makes good sense. The ease of moving files to and from cloud-based storage accounts and of being able to check on how much of that space you are using makes sense for a utility such as WinZip. The key thing, however, is being able to encrypt files coupled with the ability to add personal watermarks to files, such as images, to help protect one's work from pilfering.
It seems a bit chintzy, however, for Corel to require users to pay extra for the very features that have the most utility. An all in one package at this price would be a great deal, but this à la carte presentation of components seems needless and flawed.
