Drawing and art have been a part of Deborah Miller's life since the beginning. Very few surfaces have been sacred or safe. She's drawn on everything from toilet paper (it wasn't cushy soft in those days) and redwood boards to drum skins and virtual paper on the computer. Since her first professional show at age 12, she's been the recipient of numerous art awards in a career that has spanned well over 30 years.
Trained in the traditional tools of drawing boards and airbrushes, she moved to computers several years ago, during the days of programming sprites in basic. Today her tools are far more sophisticated, as she explores the worlds of CorelDRAW, 3D animation, the Web, and multimedia development. Coauthor and author of several books on computer graphics, and illustrator of anything that does not move fast enough, her goal is to make graphics software understandable. She believes that users should not have to be techie wizards to create computer graphics.
Having escaped the city, she resides in the hills of Tennessee with her husband, Mike, her family, and an assortment of cats, dogs, and a wolf. When she's not working, she can be found haunting the Internet.

too little useful information in too many pages,

This review is from: CorelDRAW 8 Bible (Paperback)
This book is essentially the corel draw manual rewritten for people who like to read, and read, and read and... There is a little bit here one could not get from the manual but it is buried in excess explanation. CorelDraw X the official guide gives you much more and for a lower price. For advanced study go to Corel Draw Studio Techniques and Corel Draw F/X. These are books written by people who actually use, write about, and even teach Corel Draw. The difference is amazing

So-so,

This review is from: CorelDRAW 8 Bible (Paperback)
There is a lack of tutorials on CorelDRAW 8 at this point thus this book fills the gap. But this is not exciting book by any means - if you have not seen the power of DRAW, this book won't make a difference. Besides, the graphics in the book are truly poor (talking about DRAW!) However, the book delivers the promise, to some degree, that it is a "technical" introduction to DRAW's features. Unfortunately nothing about Photo-Paint or 3D part of the package. Buy on your own risk if needed.

Easy to follow, even advanced users will pick up useful tips,

This review is from: CorelDRAW 8 Bible (Paperback)
I find the book to be informative & useful, we have several different levels of Corel 8 users in our home/office, and the instructions are clear enough for beginners to use without insulting the ability of the more advanced user. The book really builds up the fact that there are "samples" in the book and on the accompanying CD, however I was disapointed in the samples & the CD, which is really full of dead end demos & a couple of photos. As a more advanced user, I prefer: Coreldraw 8 : The Official Guide by Foster D. Coburn, Foster R., III Coburn, Peter A. McCormick, a better book & extras thru the website...like tutorials & seminars taught by the authors. I attended their seminar recently & I have read both books, like the later better...but, if you are fairly new to Corel 8, then I personally believe that The CorelDraw 8 Bible is easier to work thru...I'd compare it to taking classes in school, clear format & easy to understand.
