These are pretty & functional, but very heavy ceramic. these are not the unbreakable material, nor are they the lighter weight glass-like material like corningware casseroles. I don't understand why they weigh so much--- not anything you would want a child to handle due to the weight.

These dishes are just as pretty as pictured, they are heavy as sin, meaning good quality and everything I have baked in them so far has come out great. Line them with some foil or spray with some PAM and clean up is a breeze, plus as I said before they look so nice, and coming with 2 lids is a bonus. These dishes are worth every penny!
